Joke of the Week
Teacher: If you had 13 apples, 12 grapes, 3 pineapples and 3 strawberries, what would you have? (See the answer at the bottom of this newsletter)
Hello JCE Families,
It was so wonderful to see everyone at Entrance Conferences. Thank you for taking the time to help prepare your student for the upcoming year. JCE staff is SO excited to welcome students back on Tuesday.
One favor I would ask of all of you would be to please have patience with our transportation practices at the beginning of the year. If you are dropping off or picking up, please drive slowly. If your child rides the bus, please know that the buses may run a bit late on these first few days.

Registration Forms are Now Online
Dear Families!
As we all know how all the back to school paperwork can be overwhelming, so we have moved to online forms to make the process so much easier! Please watch the short video above and login into Skyward Family Access and follow the process for each of your children.
You will verify registration information including:
- Demographic changes
- McKinney Vento Housing Information required by the State of Minnesota
- 22-23 Parent Permission
- 22-23 Emergency School Closing Forms
You can complete them now and not have to worry when school begins!
Kindergarten families, there will be a couple paper forms for you to fill out at entrance conferences but still complete the online forms!
If you have any questions please feel free to contact our offices.

Morning
Bus Drop Off - Buses will drop off in the back of the building this year.
Parent Drop Off - Students will be dropped off in the front of the building between 7:40am and 8:10am. However, they will walk around the building to join morning recess instead of coming inside. Morning recess will be between 7:40-8:10am.
Afternoon
Bus Riders - will load buses in the front of the building.
Parent Pick-up - Families should use Birch Street to enter the back parking lot to pick up students. Please stay behind the gate until after 2:40pm.
Student Absences
Families are asked to please call the school by 8:30 A.M. if your child will be absent from school that day. You are able to leave messages on the school answering machine or submit an absence in Skyward during non-school hours. See the video below for a quick tutorial on putting an absence into Skyward.
The school phone number is 320-251-8651 ext. 3. If you prefer, you may also send an email to the following: gerdingk@rocori.k12.mn.us. Please send a note explaining the reason for the absence when your child returns to school.
Please have end of the day plans made and explained to your child before they come to school. If there is a change in their schedule, then send a note to the classroom teacher. Please avoid calling at the end of the day, as it is difficult to get messages out to classroom teachers
Volunteer and Visitor Information
If you would like to volunteer in or visit your child's classroom, please note a few important details. All volunteers and visitors are required to use the Raptor Visitor Management System in all school buildings. Our purpose for re-integrating the system, which has not been used for several years due to COVID's visitor policies, is to build on the district's program of campus safety for students and faculty. Part of keeping students and faculty safe is knowing who is in our building at all times, and the Raptor System will allow us greater ability to do so.
As in the past, visitors will be asked to present a valid state-issued ID, which will be scanned into the system. Once entry is approved, Raptor will issue a badge that identifies the visitor, the date and the purpose of the visit. Additional data from the driver's license is not gathered nor is the system connected to any other system such as the Department of Motor Vehicles. Therefore, any other information on the ID is not scanned by the system and is not accessible to any of the users. A visitor's badge will not be necessary for those who visit our schools simply to drop off an item in the office or pick up paperwork.
The safety of our students is our highest priority and the Raptor visitor management system provides a consistent way to aid in keeping away people who may present a danger to our students. Volunteers will also be required to read our volunteer commitment when checking in. A copy of the document is attached. Thank you, in advance, for your understanding and support of enhancing safety protocols in our district! Please reach out with any questions or concerns!
Rocori Elementary Families,
Elementary school supplies for the upcoming 2022-2023 school year will once again be mostly supplied by the school, but this year we are asking for a $10 supply fee per student to help offset some of the costs. Please follow the directions below to make your payment or you can stop in at any of the elementary offices to make a payment. If you would like to make an additional donation for your school, it would be greatly appreciated and please refer to your child's school webpage for any additional information!
We are looking forward to seeing everyone soon!
Sincerely,
Sam Court, JCE Principal
Mary Holmberg, Richmond Elementary Principal
Keri Johnson, Cold Spring Elementary Principal

Math tutors serve during the school day working with small groups of students (grades 4-8) who need extra help building their math skills.
No matter if you’re a recent grad, career changer, stay-at-home parent or retiree, you can make a great tutor! No experience? No problem. Minnesota Reading and Math Corps provides comprehensive training in strategies proven to help students learn, so tutors are well equipped to help students grow.
Perks as A Tutor
• Receive a stipend every two weeks
• Earn up to $4,300 for college tuition or student loans. Tutors 55 and older may gift the award to their child, grandchild, stepchild or foster child.
