Blaze Bulletin
Edition 6 - Week of September 25
Greetings...
Dear teachers,
Social Studies has thrown down a challenge! Since next week is College Application week at BHS (we have Motlow and MTSU on campus all week), they thought it would be fun for faculty support this and to wear their college gear - and jeans, of course.
So here's the challenge - the departments will have the day as listed below. On that day, your department may wear jeans and college gear. Social Studies thinks they will have the highest percentage of faculty who participate! Science says, no way!! They will have the highest percentage. CTE says, bring it on, big boys (or something like that)....
Monday - Math and Special Education and Library and Counseling
Tuesday - Science and CTE and classified staff
Wednesday - English and Foreign Language and administration
Thursday - Social Studies, PE, Healtlh, and Fine Arts, and JROTC
Your chairs will count who participates and he/she will send the number to me in order to be in the running for a prize (a free jeans day of your choice later in the school year).
Be sure to talk to your students about college planning sometime during the week next week - C&I would be a good place for this conversation.....
Go Blaze!
Leisa Justus
GRADE REMINDER...
Teachers should enter an average of 2 grades per week. Each week the grades should be updated in iNow. This is the way students and parents can follow progress.
Fall Safety Drills begins.....
Fire Safety Educational Announcement
A fire can breakout with little or no warning. The more prepared you are, the safer you will be. Have a meeting location at school and at home that everyone will gather after a fire evacuation. A meeting location will help you quickly verify that everyone made it out safely.
PD - BEP Mini-grant workshop BEP Grant Writing Inservice is Thursday, September 28, room G-27 from 3:30 - 4:30.

ACT Recognition Ceremony...
There will be an ACT recognition ceremony in the auditorium next Friday, September 29 during C&I. This ceremony will recognize all students that have received a 25 or higher on their ACT. Please be looking for an email next week alerting you to any of your C&I students that will need to attend. There will also be invitations in your mailbox to distribute to these kids as well.
Thanks,
Will Hawkins

Sunshine Fund....
Here at Blackman we have a sunshine fund. It allows us to send flowers to staff members in the case of death of a loved one. The fund is getting a little low. We used it several times last year so I am asking that you donate. A $5 or $10 donation would be appreciated if you are able to. You can bring your donations to me in E-11 or put them in my mailbox. Please include your name so that I can write you a receipt and record it on a log sheet to turn in. Please help us keep this fund going by donating. It's a great thing to be able to show staff members that we care in difficult times.
I will be taking donations until the end of the month. Thanks again!
