Playground Update
We are currently on the schedule to have our new playground project begin in late January / early February. The project will include removal and upgrade of the current surface along with the removal and installation of new equipment. Again, thanks to all who have made this project possible.
We also have estimates for removing and updating the fencing around the playground too even though this is not included in the funds for the playground makeover. Our hope is that through the annual school fund and other donations/grants we can make this happen at the same time.
COVID 19 Updates
Just wanted to make everyone aware that we have seen a slight uptick in our COVID-19 positives and quarantines. Thus far most have been outside of school in family or outside activities / sports. We will continue to monitor our school data and keep you abreast of changes. Currently we have had 4 positive cases and six quarantines. Symptoms have been all over the place. Some just sniffles, some a headache, and some stomach and diarrhea. Fever is not always present either. We just never know and that is why we ask for the negative test if a student is symptomatic before he/she returns. We also will continue to trace close contacts and quarantine students as we are required to do when / if positive cases pop up within our school environment, from the school bus, or athletics / recreational leagues.

Prayer for First Week of Advent:
"Gracious God, as the Advent season begins, we cry out to you. We come to you looking for hope. We know you and we know you are here for us no matter what we are facing. Some of us may be experiencing darkness, some of us may be overwhelmed, some of us may be filled with Advent joy. Wherever we find ourselves today Loving God, remind us that our hope is in you. Be with us on this journey. Amen."
God bless,
Mrs. Mauer

Breakfast Program
At school, there's always a meal ready to be served! Some mornings, it's tough to find the time to make sure your kids are eating a nutritious breakfast. On those days, why not send them to our School Breakfast Program? Each meal meets government nutritional guidelines and standards. Schools are required to provide a breakfast meal that includes fruit, whole-grain rich items, and low fat or fat free milk. Check your child's menu to see the variety of nutritious choices available at School Breakfast, or stop by to sample the food yourself!
Breakfast is served from 7:30-7:50 each morning in the SLS cafeteria.

St. Louis 5th Grade Boys Basketball vs Greendale
The St. Louis Boys 5th Grade Basketball team improved to 2-2 on the season after a hard fought 20-15 victory over Greendale. The game was a back and forth affair as Greendale had the early lead 4-5 after the first quarter. This continued throughout the game as the two teams traded the lead. Finally the Cardinals were able to grab the lead for good when Grant Streator hit his only basket of the night in the 3rd to give the Cardinals a 14-13 lead.
The Cardinals used great defense and balance scoring in the 4th quarter to lock the game down. Cam Anderson once again led the way with a big game as he scored 12 points. Hunter Young, Luke Richardson, and Jaxson Watson all added 2 points. This was the Cardinals best overall game as the played hard all game and played much improved defense. All 11 kids played hard when they were in the game.
The Cardinals next game will be next Monday at St. Mary’s Aurora at 5:30pm.

The St. Louis Boys 5th Grade Basketball team improved to 3-2 on the season with a 32-13 victory over St. Mary’s (Aurora). The Cardinals came out strong and jumped to an early 8-2 1st quarter lead behind Cam Anderson and Hunter Young who each had 4 point a piece. The Cardinals used strong defense to increase the lead to 17 to 3 at halftime. The Cardinals were lead by Hunter Young who again scored 4 points in the quarter. Ryan McGuire added 3 points and Grant Streator got an offensive rebound and a put back for his only two points. Hunter Young added 2 more points to give him 10 points on the night. Ryan McGuire added 2 more for a total on 7 points and Wyatt Steinkamp added the final basket.
This was Wyatt’s best all around game of the season so far. He played tough defense, got some tough rebounds, and set good picks to free up his teammates. The Cardinals played overall very hard especially on defense and it was a great team win.

Caleb Harmeyer led the team with an impressive 10 rebounds folloowed by Owen Beckner with 7 rebounds and Andrew King & Nick Kern with 6 rebounds apiece. All of the boys did a terrific job in denying easy baskets an making it hard for them to get good shots for St Mary's most of the game. Walke and Dice led the defense in steals with 5 and 4 steals respectively. An overall solid effort by the Cardinals.

Wyatt Steinkamp turned in another solid performance and added 2 points. Henry Giesting got his first basket of the year and Declan Meyer rimmed out a long shot at the buzzer that almost got him in the scoring column. Happy Thanksgiving to Everyone and enjoy the break.

6th Grade St Louis Cardinals vs St Nicholas Saints
Game Summary Nov 23, at St Louis Activity Center:
The Cards played a suffocating, trapping defense to help push the Saints into a faster tempo game than they wanted. The Saints size proved a challenge to the Cards but was overcome with defensive effort and intensity causing turnovers that lead to multiple fast break points for St Louis. The Cardinals continue to improve in the sharing of the basketball and setting up others to score as evidenced with the distribution of points above. St Louis will attempt to continue their winning ways after the break they travel to Laurel to take on the Yellow Jackets on Monday, Nov 29.
