World Language Options

Frequently Asked Questions

Message to Students and Parents

Dear Families:

Last week you were asked to confirm your child's world language choice for the next three years. There is the option to continue with the Spanish program, OR opt for one of two other languages: French or Latin.

The other choices are taught by MJS faculty and the student will be enrolled in the course of their choosing for the remainder of middle school

We put together this FAQ for you to help your child make an informed decision. We need FINAL DECISIONS by this Thursday @ noon (3/24).

Happy Spring!

Bridget Kelley-Lossada

Deadline to Submit Choice

Thursday, March 24th, 12pm

This is an online event.

PARENTS: IF YOU HAVE ALREADY DONE THIS, THERE IS NO NEED TO DO IT AGAIN. THANKS!

FAQs

Why Take Latin?

Many students and parents have asked for more information about Latin. Please see this doc that goes over what is covered and how it can benefit students in middle school.

Do I Have to Take the Class for Three (3) Years?

Yes, when selecting the class, you will have to remain in it from 6th-8th grade.

Will I Travel with the Same Class or Different?

You will have different classes for World Language than for your other Subjects. You will be in 6XYZ for Spanish/French/Latin, and 6ABC for most other classes.

What if I select a new class (French/Latin) and I don't like it?

We hope you like what you select, and the teachers are very excited about teaching their subject.

In RARE cases, if there is room in another class, we can shift you in the first MONTH of enrollment (ie: you may make a change if absolutely necessary before October 10th).
