Eagle News Sept. 5- Sept. 9
This week at Utsalady
Dear Utsalady Friends and Families,
Thank you for a great start to the school year. It was so much fun to have our students laughing in the hallways, playing outside, making new friends and enjoying learning together.
During the first few weeks of school in addition to teaching the core subjects, teachers work to build classroom community. This is a key part of our emphasis on social and emotional learning. We use the district adopted curriculum Character Strong to emphasize monthly character traits and social development. We are excited to have our school counselor Mrs. Jessica Mati work with teachers to provide meaningful lessons on social and emotional learning.
During the month of September we are focusing on Respect. Respect is seeing value in all people and things and treating them with care. Linked below are the family newsletters K-5.
We are excited to welcome our kindergarten students to school on Wednesday. Our kindergarten teachers have been working hard making family connections and preparing learning materials for our newest Eagles. We are very excited to have our youngest learners join our Utsalady community. Welcome Kindergarten Students!!
Looking forward to a great week,
Julie Echols
Proud Utsalady Principal

Transportation Information
Transportation Information
District transportation information is now available for grades K-12. Parents can access individual student transportation information online.
Versatrans eLink is the portal to access bus route, stop time, location, and the bus your child will be riding. The "User Name" and "Password" on the login page is your student's 7-digit identification number.

REMINDER: All students need to be at the bus stop 5 minutes before their stop time.
Kindergarten Parents: To ensure your child's safety, please arrive at the bus stop in the morning and after school 5 minutes before the scheduled pick-up and drop-off time. Parents or guardians must meet the bus in the afternoon, or your child will be returned to the school or transportation center.
For more information, please call the Transportation Center at 360-629-1229.
Meals and Food Service for the 2022-2023 School Year
Federal funding for no-cost breakfast and lunches for all students during the COVID-19 pandemic has ended. Some districts have been able to qualify for no-cost meals to continue due to poverty rates in the community. SCSD does not qualify to participate under the new federal Community Eligibility Provision. This means the district will return to paid breakfast and lunch meals for students for the 2022-23 school year.
Please click this link to apply for free and reduced meals. If you need assistance filling out the form please feel free to come to the UES office or email uesinfo@stanwood.wednet.edu or jechols@stanwood.wednet.edu
If your child had funds on their student meal account prior to the shift to free meals, the balance is available to view in skyward. Please visit the food service website for more information.
Dismissal
Dismissal:
Most students leave our campus one of two ways: by carpool or school bus. We no longer have parents enter the building to pick students up from the gym. If you need to pick your child up before the end of the school day, please call the office first, and pick your child up by 3:00. School is in session until 3:30. Please only use early dismissal for appointments or emergencies.
Carpool - Parent Pick Up procedure:
Carpool is supervised by several adults wearing high visibility vests and carrying radios.
Car line up begins at the gate that leads to the playground area. The gate opens at 3:15.
You will be directed to line up in 4 tight lines (similar to loading on a car ferry).
Turn your car and your headlights off and wait. Remain in your car. Be mindful of music, cell phones and distractions.
You will be asked to display a sign with your child’s name and teacher’s name so the patrol adult can call your child’s name.
Once all students are loaded in cars and secured in seats, you will be directed by patrol to exit in single file lines. No cars move until directed by patrol
If you have an emergency, car problem, or need help please set out of your car and wave at the patrol adult.
Please do NOT call your child over to your car from the covered area if you see them. They will be waiting safely under the covered area with the patrol person until they are given the okay to head down the middle of the two lanes to get into their cars.
Arrival
Arrival Times:
Our school doors open for breakfast at 8:40 M/T/TH/F and 10:00 on W. Students arrive through the main front doors each day. Students are allowed to go to classrooms at 8:45. If walking your child in to school park in the parking lot. Do not park in the drop off line or in the bus loading zone, before school or after 2:00 pm.
