Performing Arts Week

Mighty Zulu Nation Theatre Company

Performing Arts Week was kicked off to a noisy and entertaining start by the Mighty Zulu Nation Theatre Company. The day began with an amazing show where the dancers and musicians performed for the whole school. Workshops were held for every year group from Year 1 to 6 when children learned to sing and dance in the South African tradition. The children then performed to each other and the parents of Year 2 children who this term are answering the question 'Why go to Africa?'

If you find that cutlery has gone missing at home, check their school bag! On Wednesday we welcomed percussionist Jo May to school. Jo led workshops for children from Reception to Year 6 and taught all of the children how to play the spoons.

Is this a workshop I see before me?

On Thursday we welcomed ASA Creative Theatre Company who led Shakespeare workshops all day with children in classes Year 2 to 6. The children learned to create living sculptures, project and express using excerpts from the bard's great plays from The Tempest to Macbeth.

Lining Up to Dance

On Friday all of the children from Year 2 to Year 6 were given lines - no, not the kind of punishment you might have been given at school - these lines were to dance in. Our own talented dance teacher Mrs Hart led a series of groovy line dance classes which the children really enjoyed.

staffing update

It is with mixed emotions we are informing parents that Miss Stephenson will be leaving school at the end of this term. Miss Stephenson has worked at the school since 2014 and taught in Years 2 and 5. She is popular with the children and will be greatly missed. Miss Stephenson is returning to London to teach and we wish her every success in her new school.

The Governors need you!

The Governing Body are currently looking for a new recruit who might have financial or business skills to add to the team. The commitment could be as few as four meetings a year. If you are interested and have the necessary skills please pop in and speak to Mrs Rich in the school office.

Oscar's Sporting Days

On Thursday and Friday of half term Oscar's Holiday Club is open for business. There will be a sporting theme where children will get the chance to play a range of sports and games (as well as some quiet slow paced activities). There will be medals and prizes and we have ordered the inflatable assault course for Thursday.

There is nothing like a muffin with a homegrown stuffing

With thanks to Year 4 who planted the leeks last year, as we're sure the gardeners amongst you must have realised, this week Year 3 were able to harvest them from the school garden to make cheese and leek savoury muffins.

Everyone's a winner

Well done Year 2 and Year 6! Every child in the class received a certificate at their celebration assemblies this week for all their hard work during their SATs tests.

Updated Privacy Notice and Data Consent Form

We are busy ensuring that we are compliant with the new GDPR (data regulations) and have published new privacy notices accordingly. The pupil notice was emailed home this week and is also on the school website. In addition, we sent home a consent form for various data sharing activities. With apologies that it covers some information you have already provided, the fact remains that we still need this form back as soon as possible please. Many thanks, especially to the many parents who have already returned the form.
