5 Unique Facts
1. In 1966 Joe Green (former Pittsburgh Steelers defensive tackle) played for UNT when he was a sophomore and he was the main reason why they call the Athletes Mean Green.
2. Since 1913 the football program has produced 32 All- Americans and 77 former Mean Green Players who have been drafted into the NFL.
3. In 2001 UNT has won 17 conference championships in nine sports during that time.
4. The men's basketball program has made two NCAA tournament appearances in recent years and finishing with 20 plus wins for five straight seasons.
5. The Mean green joined Conference USA on July 1, 2013

The University picked the Colors green and white to resemble Green for Mother nature and peace. The logo fits with the colors and University because it stands out with the Eagle/Mascot
Some Facts
1. The mascot is a green eagle named Scrappy.
2. They have a eagle claw hang sign which represents their universal sign of pride and unity.
3. They scream "MEAN GREEN ON THE LOOSE" inferring to the athletes that are playing.
