A Message from Mr. Scheunemann
It was great getting to see and meet more of you during our Parent/Teacher Conferences. We appreciate you and your partnership in your child's learning. On behalf of the staff, I wanted to also thank those of you that donated items or volunteered to set up or clean up for the dinners that were provided during Parent/Teacher Conferences. I greatly appreciate it because it is a kind gesture that demonstrates your appreciation for the work staff do for students!
This time of year brings a lot of excitement. In an effort to help students join in the season of giving, we have provided opportunities for students to give back in big and small ways. Some of those opportunities happen as a classroom but we also want to join in the spirit of giving as a building through our Stuff the Snowman event to help Reach Out Lodi be able to care for families in need. Please see the information below for more details.
I included the quote below as a reminder to all of us during this time of year. Sometimes we can get focused on what we have or don't have, but more important than our possessions is who we are. I encourage you to take the time during this season to celebrate all of who your child is instead of focusing on all your child isn't yet. As a staff we are grateful to have the opportunity to spend our days with your child. They bring and add so much to our learning community just as they are currently. We will continue to help them grow as we also celebrate who they currently are.
Thank you for ALL that you do!
Eric Scheunemann - LES/OSC Principal

Stuff the Snowman
LES/OSC is excited to collaborate with Reach Out Lodi during the start of the winter season in an effort to “Give Back” to our community! We are kicking off an event called "Stuff the Snowman" and hope to have students bring in items to support local individuals and families with items that are needed at Reach Out Lodi! Below is a list of the items that are needed, if you are able to make a donation at this time, we would greatly appreciate it! We know this is a challenging time of year for some and want to join in on the spirit of giving to meet the needs in our community. We will accept donations until Monday, December 12 and be taking the donations to Reach Out Lodi that week. Thanks for considering! Any items are appreciated ~ but these are currently of great need:
pickles ~ ketchup ~ kidney beans ~ crackers (saltines, graham, etc.) ~ spices ~ cereal ~ shampoo ~ conditioner ~ body wash ~ toilet paper ~ paper towels ~ laundry detergent
School Closings
When school will be closed because of extreme cold/dangerous snowy conditions, families will be receiving an email/call/text through Infinite Campus automated messenger system notifying them of a school delay or cancellation. Please make sure that you have clicked on how you would like to receive messages in your Infinite Campus Portal. You can
also look on our local media channels.
Attendance
If your child is going to be absent from school for a pre-planned reason, a parent/guardian should report that absence to the Office by emailing or calling the school.
In addition, if your child's plans after school are different then usual, please call or email the office by 1:30 pm. The office will contact the teacher and your child with this information.
It would be appreciated if you would include what symptoms your child is experiencing when you report an absence so the office knows if they need to follow up with you or not.

Change in Lodi COVID protocols:
Revised Mitigation Strategy for Positive COVID-19 Cases: When someone tests positive for COVID-19, the District should continue to require them to be excluded/isolated. However,
- Students/staff can return to school wearing a face covering once they are fever free for a 24 hour period, their symptoms are improving, and they can participate effectively in school (face covering through day 10).
- Students/staff who do wish to wear a face covering can go without a face covering at school as soon as they produce a negative antigen test and notify the school building office or school nurse of their test result.
- Students who do not wish to wear a face covering always have the option to complete a 10 day isolation period at home.
Handwashing
Handwashing is an easy, cheap, and effective way to prevent the spread of germs and keep kids and adults healthy. When your family is healthy, you don’t have to worry about missing school, work, or other activities.
Free COVID-19 Tests from DHS
Regular COVID-19 testing helps to reduce community spread and keeps schools operating safely. This is especially important during the holidays as families celebrate together indoors. The Wisconsin Department of Health services is offering free COVID-19 tests to families as the holiday season approaches. Adults can order a free package of five rapid antigen tests each month for their household at Say Yes COVID Test.
From Department of Health Services:
DHS Urges Wisconsinites to Protect Themselves Against Respiratory Viruses this Holiday Season
With respiratory viruses such as COVID-19, influenza, and RSV circulating at high levels nationwide, the 2022-2023 respiratory season has the potential to be severe, especially for young children and older adults.
The Wisconsin Department of Health Services (DHS) has issued an alert to Wisconsin health care providers, and urges everyone to get all recommended vaccines, including the updated COVID-19 booster and the flu vaccine, to help prevent and slow the spread of respiratory illnesses. “Wisconsin hospitals are already seeing an alarming number of hospitalizations due to respiratory illnesses,” said DHS Secretary-designee Karen Timberlake. “It is essential for Wisconsinites to get their updated COVID-19 booster and annual flu vaccine to protect their health, especially with the holiday season right around the corner.”

Attire for the concert is semi-formal. Please remember that it does get warm while they are up on stage performing and to keep that in mind when deciding what to wear.

Message from Ms. Good
Wow! It’s the end of November already! Time flies when you’re having fun, and I am having fun teaching your kids!
This month we talked about:
Veterans’ Day
Indigenous Peoples Month
Digital Citizenship
We have been getting a lot of books turned in with damage from being in backpacks with water bottles. Please remind your child not to put their water bottle in the same place as their library books.
We encourage everyone to tell us right away if the book they checked out has any damage.
Overall, kids have been doing a great job of getting their books turned in! Thanks for your support at home with this!
Feel free to contact me at any time if you have any questions at goodamy@lodischoolswi.rg.
Happy reading,
Ms. Good

LES/OSC Happenings
Caught Being Kind
The students pictured below were recognized for acts of kindness they did. These acts are above and beyond our expectations of being responsible, respectful, and safe. We know that there are numerous acts of kindness our students do that we don't always see and appreciate those as well.

I am proud of the way staff and students embrace the opportunities
we create at LES/OSC to connect and learn.
