Information for English Language Learners
In March your student will take the TELPAS test for English Language Learners. This test is given to measure growth and progress with regards to English language acquisition. All English Language Learners are required to take this test in an in-person setting. TELPAS testing will be the week of March 8-11. A detailed schedule will follow. Remote leaners need to arrive at 8:00 and they must bring their own lunch. We are unable to provide lunch for remote learners reporting to campus.
More information will come in the next few weeks. Please prepare your students for these testing days and encourage that students do their best on this important exam.
Congratulations to Mrs. Rush - Lamar's Teacher of the Year
Starla Rush, a 6th/7th grade social studies teacher at Lamar Middle School, is a twenty-four year educator who has spent twenty of those years in Irving Independent School District. She has been at Lamar for eight years and has taught 6th – 8th grade. She attended Texas Tech University. She became a teacher to not only instill an appreciation for history, but, most importantly, to help students see their own potential. She always has her chocolate drawer open for those co-workers who need a pick-me-up, and everyone can tell where she has been and if she will be back by the coldness of the Diet Coke can. We are so lucky to have Mrs. Rush at Lamar Middle School
