Renewable or nonrenewable?

Natural gas is nonrenewable. Most of it was formed under the earth 100 million years ago. The reason natural gas is nonrenewable is because it takes hundreds of million of years to make. Natural gas is composed mostly of methane, but it also contains small amounts of ethane, propane, butane, and pentane.

How it is used

Natural gas is used for a lot of things. Electrical is a very big usage of natural gas. About 33% of natural gas is used for electrical power. Another big usage of natural gas in industrial power. Industrial power comes in at second with about 30%. And we skipped a few, but usage of natural gas for vehicles come in at 0.1%. Wow that's low!
