SLE WEEKLY UPDATE
November 11, 2022
Good afternoon,
On this Veterans Day, we would like to thank all the brave men and women who have served our country. Thank you for your sacrifice, bravery, and the example you set for us all.
Thank you to all of the families that participated in parent-teacher conferences last night! If you were unable to attend a conference, please feel free to reach out to our teachers to discuss any concerns you may have. We encourage you to check Skyward frequently to monitor your student’s grades. Thank you to our amazing families for the potluck dinner donations during parent-teacher conferences. Our staff appreciates your thoughtfulness. We look forward to this every year and it helps to have a homemade meal on a very long day! Special thanks go out to Laura Hogan for organizing this for us!
We invite our SLE community to participate in the district-wide BLUE OUT on Monday, November 14th by wearing blue to increase awareness and show our support for people living with Type 1 Diabetes. We hope by continuing to bring awareness that we can make a change.
As we approach the Thanksgiving holiday we want to remind parents that there is no school from November 23-27. If you are planning to travel out of town and anticipate absences for your student, please touch base with our attendance office and let Mrs. Tanason know the expected dates.
Please come out and support our drama department as they perform PETER PAN AND WENDY! in the East auditorium from November 17-20. Ticket information can be found below.
We hope you have a fantastic weekend!
ALICE DRILL
This morning, we conducted our second required ALICE drill for the 2022-23 school year. This drill provided specific information regarding a threat to a specific area in the building so that staff and students could utilize their knowledge to respond in the manner best appropriate based on their location and capabilities. This drill emphasized the importance of listening to the adult(s) in the room and included students evacuating the building with their teacher. We will be de-briefing with staff in the next few days and will likely conduct another drill next week. Students were reminded of the drill prior to it commencing.
Be East - Be Connected
SLE Student's writing about nature
Mrs. Bingely's English students have been studying Transcendentalist authors, such as Henry David Thoreau and Ralph Waldo Emerson. A theme in their works is to live deliberately and simply while "being one with nature". They could not have phones, Airpods, or any conversations as they were outside observing and writing about nature the way the transcendentalist authors did in the 1800s.

FALL DRAMA PRODUCTION - PETER PAN AND WENDY
Please join us as the SLEHS Drama Department proudly presents PETER PAN AND WENDY!
