Principal's Update
September 14th, 2020
Dear Students & Families,
2020 continues to be an odd year. I hope everyone has continued to stay safe from COVID, wildfires and overwhelming smoke.
Our teachers are starting to find their strides in remote learning. I hope that students are feeling good about the level of education they are receiving. Our teachers are reporting many positives, but the most exciting is the students taking ownership of their learning. This is excellent to hear.
This is a relatively short newsletter, which is a good sign that maybe we are settling into a good groove and not needing to adapt constantly!
Go Hawks!
Sincerely,
Mr. Schoonover

Teachable Moments
For example, Last year on September 11th I (Mr. Schoonover) was able to lead the school in a moment of silence for the anniversary of the attacks on September 11th. While we couldn't do a moment of silence together, I would like to reshare my message.
"Please stand silently for a moment of reflection and respect. None of you were not born on September 11th, 2001. But your parents will always remember that day.
Please join me in a moment of silence ...
- For the innocent men, women and children who lost their lives on an airplane, at the World Trade Center, at the Pentagon, and on the streets of New York City.
- For civil servants, firefighters, police officers, and military personnel who have dedicated and lost their lives protecting our safety, our freedom and our democracy.
- For the thousands of families and friends who still grieve their loss.
Thank you. While today marks one of the most difficult events in American History, I’d like to take a moment to celebrate America’s resilience, ability to work together, help one another and commit to respecting all people, no matter race, culture or creed. Let’s reflect what is best about America today."
