Individual Class Updates
ELA News and Updates
This week in 7th grade ELA, we continued with our novel the Outsiders and really got into Chapter 2. We chose new articles to read and review for article of the week and we went to the Library to choose a book for our book reports. Encourage your child to bring their book each day and try and get a few pages read each night. We also started working on strengthening our writing this week by taking a look at sentence types. As students get back into the swing of things and begin to get homework, please encourage them to ask questions in class or through email to lessen the stress of the beginning of the school year! Overall it’s been a great start with a fantastic group of kids and I look forward to what they will achieve. Have a great weekend!-Ms. Heiar

Welcome Back!! The 1st few weeks of school have already been filled with new concepts and testing. Now that MAPS is complete we will get into our daily class routine. Next week, will include work with Rational and Irrational Numbers and Sets of Real Numbers. Please make sure that your son or daughter have their calculators at school, as we will use them everyday. I have delayed sending out my parent letter until the students were more familiar with Pre-Algebra, so please check your email early next week for my classroom policies & procedures. Have a great weekend!
Algebra spent the first week wrapping up a lot of previous math concept to prepare for Algebra. We reviewed integers, fractions, percents, probability, and mean, median, mode, and range. This review helped prepare them for the first round of MAPS testing. We will begin chapter 1 in Algebra after testing. The first chapter examines precision and conversion. Please sign the parent letter and return with your son or daughter. I am looking forward to a great year of math. Have a great weekend!Mrs. Niccolai
Science News and Updates

Welcome Back! We are off to a great start this year first learning about the metric system and how to make conversions. Students went for the gold in our Metric Olympics activity where they practiced making measurements using the metric system. We moved into the scientific method this week, learning the steps involved and the scientific way to write a lab report. The week ended with a lab that helped us decide which paper towel is the most absorbent. Students followed the steps of the scientific method and wrote their first lab report of the year! Next week we will move into the first unit in life science which defines the characteristics something must have to be considered a living thing.
Have a fantastic weekend!~Mrs. Weis

Welcome Back! It’s great to be back working with the 7th graders again this years in Social Studies. We will continue to look at U.S History this year picking up where we left off last spring. The first chapter that we will be focusing on is the Jefferson Era and will finish the year out by looking at rebuilding the South following the Civil War. New this year is Geography Friday’s. We will use this day to work on our geography skills that we might not have gotten to in years past. Please have your child look at the google calendar every day to make sure they get all assignments in on time. Have a great weekend, Mr. Johnsen
Spanish News and Updates
Katy Morrow email@example.com
¡Hola! What a great start to the school year it has been! I am looking forward to getting to know more about your son or daughter in Spanish class this year! We are off to a great start and have spent the week really getting to know the Spanish alphabet. We are spending a lot of time practicing the alphabet as a whole, but also spelling words, doing listening activities, and playing games. Students are also creating an alphabet book to become familiar with online dictionaries, syllable sounds, and just to become familiar with Spanish words in general. I hope that your student enjoys learning a new language and that they teach you and other family members a little español! Have a fantastic weekend!
Physical Education and Health News and Updates

Over the last couple of weeks the 7th graders have learned how to create a positive learning environment. The students filled out Facebook profiles, had a snowball fight, participated in a Pat on the Back Activity, created their own classroom expectations, and discussed what cooperation looks like, sounds like, and feels like.
In Physical Education the 7th graders have been participating in a cooperative games unit! We have had a lot of fun playing odd ball tag, omnikin tag, omnikin ball, human hungry hungry hippos, yoshi, and great island movers, all while accomplishing the main objective of learning how to work with everyone in our class. We are off to an amazing start to a wonderful year!
