Monday Message
Week of January 23rd - January 27th
Happy Monday! Just a heads up that we are having major electrical issues at school: Lights flickering, buzzing, popping, working/not working. The office only has 1/2 the lights working! The copier has been unplugged so please do not plug it in to make copies until further notice. Also, as of today at 5:00, the only keyless entry that was working was the one by the cafeteria. That's it in a nutshell - maintenance was there this afternoon and the electrician will be there in the morning. So let's see what the rest of the week has in store!
Traci will be off campus today and Tuesday at Coaching training. I will be off campus the last part of the afternoon at budget training.

Nutrition Challenge
Our lovely Lindsey Dubose is challenging us to get healthy! Read below for more info on the Nutrition Challenge and just email Lindsey if you want to participate!
What is this Nutrition Challenge?
· It is a surprise challenge: you will not know what is coming week by week. An email will be sent to you once or twice a week with instructions for the upcoming week’s challenge. If you sign up (simply by emailing me, duboseL@lisd.net), you will receive an email on Thursday/Friday for the following week in order to allow enough time to plan for the weekend grocery store trip. Examples can be anything from making cut certain foods/ingredients from your diet to adding certain things into your diet. It is a surprise! (Are you ready challenge yourself?)
· It is absolutely VOLUNTARY. This is not mandatory for any teacher to participate in.
· It is simply a challenge to you to help you learn more about the things you are putting in your body.
· It is a totally separate program from the 21-challenge the kids are doing, even though we are starting on the same day.
· It is definitely not an impossible task, but it will be a challenge (which is why it is called a “Challenge"), but it is a challenge that will show you more about your own diet and learn more about better nutrition and a more balanced eating.
· It is and has changed peoples’ perspectives on food. Throughout the challenge last year, teachers approached me stunned about the things they learned about themselves and how they became aware of some of their snack habits they did not even notice before. Some learned more about the “hidden ingredients” in foods that were claimed to be a “healthy” snack. Some even also experienced weight loss.
The Great Kindness Challenge is coming!
The Great Kindness Challenge is one school week devoted to performing as many acts of kindness as possible to help
create a culture of kindness across our campus. Stay tuned for exact dates and more information!
