Shout Outs
We received the following from Jane Hiller, friend of our school and Sonoco employee, "Dutch Fork Elementary Academy of Environmental Sciences was selected by Palmetto Pride and Keep SC Beautiful as SC’s Outstanding Environmental Performing School of 2018. The award celebrates everything that Dutch Fork Elementary is doing and other schools are striving to do."
Ms. Ybarra's 5th grade class for leading Friday's Learning Celebration. These small teachers shared Social Studies Content (The Great Depression) through music. A touchstone moment for our 3rd and 4th graders. The also shared how they used concept maps to organize their thoughts.
Katherine Cain (ESOL). Her work with our students and families that are natives of other countries is pretty remarkable. The relationships that she has established is evident and critical to the success of students she serves.
PTO board, parent volunteers, and faculty who volunteered as well. Great evening. Great turnout. Great time had by those in attendance (I missed getting this out last weekend).
Melony Sanford Visit
Melony Sanford, our district's Social Studies Coordinator, will pay us a visit classrooms to see SS content in action. As coordinator it is her responsibility to support teachers in this critical content area. On her behalf I ask that SS schedules are honored and not alternated if possible.

Tuesday PD
With many demands this also means giving teachers time back to "work on the work" that is most important.
We will not meet collectively Tuesday. I will ask that each grade level rep share with me by the end of the day Tuesday actions their teams have taken to prepare for MAP conferences with students and/or timeline for when those actions will be taken. Email will be sufficient.
2nd Cup of Coffee
2nd Cup of Coffee is in direct alignment with our district's goal number four and the first of our school's three goals this year. It is an opportunity designed for parents to bring matters to our attention most important to them and have their voices heard.
