Gators of the Week - Work hard. Get smart. Do good.

Gators of the Week: Gator Band Places 3rd at Blythewood Tournament of Champions

Work hard. Congratulations to Gator Band who placed 3rd in division at the Blythewood Tournament of Champions on Saturday. Receiving first in visual ensemble and first in colorguard, the band continues to develop our show in preparation for the 5A state competition later in November.

Gators of the Week: Orchestra Students Shine at State Competition

Get smart: Our students in the orchestra were selected by the SCMEA All-Region Orchestra Clinic to perform in concert to be held on November 22 and 23 at Irmo High School. The students selected for the 11/12 orchestra were Brian Briggs, Zaria Flippin, Andrew Lankes, Margie Grace Tidwell, and Gavin Turner. The students selected for the 9/10 orchestra were Matthew Chong, Wesley Bush, and Milan Dutta. The River Bluff Orchestra program is very proud of these students and their achievement.

Orchestra Students Give Back

The Presbyterian House of Lexington invited RB orchestra students to play for a dinner event that was held earlier this month for their residents. We had 13 RB orchestra students there to perform (Piper Phipps (10), Brianna Talton (9), Leiney Grace Bryant (10), Karina Kewlani (10), Zulal Cakir (9), Alaina Gindlesperger (11), Emma Beck (12), Gavin Turner (11), Grace Zhou (11), Rachel Loging (10), Tripp Modelewski (12), Jane Taylor (9), & Sara Smith (9)). Mrs. Jo Hanna, orchestra teacher from Meadow Glen MS, was also there to play along with the students. The residents and staff all thoroughly enjoyed it and asked the students to come back and play soon. They did have one special song request for the student's next visit... The Tiger Rag from Clemson. This was a fantastic volunteer musical opportunity for our orchestra students. They are looking forward to playing there again in the near future!

Signing Out Procedures

A reminder to parents regarding signing students out during the school day. Someone from the student's sign out sheet must come in and show ID to dismiss a child. We do not accept phone calls or emails for dismissal. You can come in on Monday to sign your child out during the week but only up until Friday of the same week. Also, if you are dismissing your child during ILT, then it is helpful to have made arrangements with the student ahead of time. We appreciate your help to assist in making this process efficient.
