REAL ID Act of 2005
The Oklahoma Department of Public Safety has been notified that our state’s waiver from the federal REAL ID Act of 2005 has been extended by the Federal Department of Homeland Security.
This announcement means that TPS travelers do not need to find an alternative form of identification because Oklahoma driver licenses will continue to be an acceptable form of identification for travel purposes until at least October 10, 2016.
We will continue to monitor developments regarding Oklahoma’s noncompliance with this federal law. For the next 12 months, travel can proceed as planned without additional ID requirements.
