Reflections Awards Ceremony - February 16

Please plan to join us Tuesday night, February 16th, to celebrate and recognize our creative students who participated in the Cypress Elementary PTA Reflections Program. Students focused on the theme, “Let Your Imagination Fly,” and submitted entries in six arts categories: Dance Choreography, Film Production, Literature, Musical Composition, Photography and Visual Arts. The ceremony will take place at 6:30 p.m. in the Cypress Elementary MPR.

Seventeen entries received an “Award of Excellence” and advanced to the Council Level, along with top-ranked entries from all across Leander ISD. One of our 5th grader's Film Production titled “A Hand in Flight,” advanced to the State Level of the Reflections Program.

Please make sure to congratulate all of our Cypress Reflections winners! Award results can be found under the Reflections tab on the PTA website, cypress.my-pta.org.

Student Transfer Request

Student transfer requests can be submitted online beginning Monday, Feb. 15, 2016. Please be sure that you submit your transfer request(s) promptly, as the transfer request deadline is March 20, 2016 (with the exception of pre-kindergarten and kindergarten transfer requests, which will be accepted April 15-29). The district will not consider any transfer requests submitted after that date until approximately two weeks prior to the start of school.

Please know that Cypress is a closed campus for the 2016 - 2017 school year. The only transfer requests that will be consider are those for students that are currently on transfer to Cypress. No new student transfers will be accepted.

Please call our registrar, Erika Dohanich, if you have any questions about student transfers.

A Note from Nurse Barbara

With the cooler weather, it is time to remind your child/children to not share coats, hats, headgear, brushes etc. It is best practice for parents to always assume that someone somewhere has lice, whether at school, movie theaters, sleep-overs, Dr. offices or wherever your child may be in their day to day lives. Please check your children weekly for excessive itching or if they are symptomatic.

If you find that your child has lice, please treat accordingly and notify your school nurse by having them checked prior to your child returning to school. Even though we no longer exclude students from school for having/having had lice, we still monitor for any trends and cases so that we may trouble shoot problem areas.

Lost and Found

Please see the pictures below for items that are currently in our lost and found. If you recognize something that belongs to your child, please either have them stop by the front foyer to claim it or stop by yourself to pick it up.
