Friday Flyer
Second Grade
Dear Second Grade Parents,
Even with our first snow day of the school year, we've managed to have a full week! Please check out the photos from our totem pole installation last Monday. The children spoke about the animal or object they chose for their totems and why they chose them. We will end our Pacific Northwest unit of study next week with a feast of smoked salmon!
The children will take the Stanford test next week. Please make sure that your children arrive to school on time (by 8:45 am) so that they can get settled before testing. Also, we encourage plenty of sleep every night and a protein-rich breakfast each morning.
If you have time over the weekend or during spring break, we recommend the new Objects of Wonder exhibit at the Natural History museum. There are many objects on display from the Smithsonian's vast collection that's been in storage. Items range from whale earwax to a stuffed lion that Teddy Roosevelt killed in Africa to a Tsimshian house front from the Pacific Northwest. The children have seen Mrs. King's photos from the exhibit and they were very interested!
Have a great weekend,
Emilia and Rachel
