"Super Miles" Information

Did you know that we have our very own superhero in Hope Valley School? “Super Miles” as he is known to family and friends has bravely fought liver cancer for three years. Miles received a liver transplant in 2017 and has since undergone chemotherapy and other surgeries to battle his cancer. After exhausting all conventional treatments, Miles was recently granted a new clinical trial drug. He is the first child in the world to trial this. He, and his amazing family, could really use the love and support of our Chariho community as he ventures into the unknown. Throughout all of his treatments and hospital stays Miles remains a silly, beautiful boy! His smile melts the hearts of everyone he meets. He teaches us every day about positivity and seeing the good in every moment. Every time Miles has a procedure or is awaiting results, he and his loved ones wear green to show support.

As a district, let’s go the extra mile for Miles and dress in green on Tuesday, November 26!

Use #gogreen4Miles so he can see your pictures!

Miles parents asked that any donations from the day go to The Hasbro Tomorrow Fund, an organization that supports pediatric cancer patients and their families. Envelopes will be at each building if you would like to donate.

Containers will be set up in the hallway across from the main office for your child to drop off any spare change. https://www.tomorrowfund.org/

Schoolwide Project

On Thursday this week, the students met with Mrs. Ward, Mrs. Pastore, Mrs. DiFranco, Mrs. Larned, and Mrs. Karney for Happy Dreamer Day. It was a great team effort. The students all listened to a book titled Happy Dreamer by Peter Reynolds. The message to kids in this book is that kids will be successful because of their wonderful, unique brain. Dreamers have a gift and their minds are very special. After watching a screencast of the book, the students received little journals and they collaged the cover of it. Gingerbread Express

To help brighten the holidays, Chariho schools will once again offer assistance to families whose children attend school in our district. If your family could use assistance this holiday season, please contact Lynn Larned at Hope Valley by November 26th at 401-315-2826.

Toys and Trading Cards

Trading cards (I.e., Pokeman) and toys from home are not allowed at school. It is in the handbook as well. These things only cause issues because items may break, items me get lost or stolen, items get traded, etc. Please remind your child that they should not be bringing in cards or toys or games to school. Thank you for your attention.

Harvest Food Drive

It is time once again for our Harvest Food Drive. We will be collecting cans from 11/4-11/22 this year. Please send in non-perishable food items to school. It is greatly appreciated.

School dental screening

School dental screening will be held on January 7, 2020

Dear parents/guardians,

State law requires that children in grades K to 4 be screened by a dentist yearly. Please fill out and send back the dental form that will be coming home with your child to verify that your child sees a dentist. Any child who does not have documentation of a dental visit will be screened by the school dentist.

Thank you, Lynn Larned, CSNT

Lost and Found Items

Just a reminder that our "Lost and Found" bins are always overflowing. Staff will check lost clothing for name tags and actively seek to return items to their owners, but all unclaimed lost and found items will be held for two months and then bagged and donated to charity.

If students are missing items, they should check the bins (which are located in the cafeteria).
