BEAU CHENE HIGH SCHOOL
Thanks to Suzanna Morton with the Louisiana Organ Procurement Agency for speaking to over 120 students during club day at Beau Chene. It was great to hear an expert dispel common myths about organ donation and the gift of life! #slpproud
BCHS AP students, who scored 3 or above on their AP exam for the 2018-2019 school year, were treated to breakfast with the administrators. Their parents were also invited to attend this event. Breakfast was provided by Mrs. Faye Leger, our book keeper.
Congratulations to our Gator runners! Our girls placed 11th in State, up 3 places from last year! These 5 girls banded together and worked very hard this season! Our boys finished an extremely hard-fought 5th place, getting edged out of 4th by one point! A special congratulations to Dataevius Milton for finishing 5th overall, earning 1st team All-State honors!
These runners have stepped up when their teammates were down, and cheered their teammates on from start to finish! Coach Mire and all parents are so very proud of our Gator runners! Great job this season!

Mrs. Lauren Lafleur's second grade class at East Elementary recently was visited by Navy veteran and grandfather to Mrs. Lafleur, Russell Fontenot. Mr. Fontenot served in the United States Navy from 1964-1968. His basic training was in San Diego, CA and he received advanced electronics and radio operator training in Norfolk, VA. Mr. Fontenot was a 2nd class Radio Operator in Beach Masters Unit 2 and Rakovic Naval Base in Iceland. #slpproud

First-grade students at Glendale Elementary engineered drums as part of their social studies unit on Thanksgiving long ago and the Science unit on sound vibrations. #slpproud

Krotz Springs Elementary eighth-graders completed a food truck design project as part of their Quest for Success course. Not only did they have to design a food truck, but they also had to develop a business plan that included a vision, mission, expected profit, target audience, and menus. #slpproud

Leonville Elementary celebrated Veterans Day Friday, November 8 with a reception for Veterans followed by a program in the gym. Veterans in attendance had a combined total of 315.5 years of military service! For this year’s celebration, Beta Club members assisted in various ways including program preparation, distribution of new flags for each classroom, and a care package drive for Veterans in J. Michael Morrow nursing home.

While they were looking at different festivals that take place in Louisiana, they enjoyed a cup of gumbo! Thank you to all who came out and supported our event.
