From the Swamp: These past four days of having everyone at school has been awesome! The positive energy and seeing students connect with one another has been so great to see...

Meet the Admin and Welcome to LA: Due to COVID we are unfortunately unable to hold a Meet The Staff evening, but on Tuesday, October 14 from 6:00-7:00pm, we are offering a virtual evening where you can hear from our Admin team about what’s going on at Lorne Akins this year and have an opportunity to ask any general questions you may have. The link will be available on our website.

Picture Retake: We had our individual photos today and our retake day on October 8.

Terry Fox Run: Our annual Terry Fox Run will take place on Friday, Sept 17th and we are once again continuing with our “Toonie for Terry” campaign. We are also selling individually wrapped meals which include a hotdog, 2 cookies and a drink...all for only $3.00. Please bring your money to your homeroom teacher no later than Thursday morning.

Volleyball: Thank you to all the students that came and to tryouts this past week. Also, huge thank you to our Senior Volleyball Girls coaches Mrs Faught, Mr Bishop and Boys coaches Mr Schmidt and Mr Drake. Teams will be finalized early next week. Jr Girls and Boys volleyball tryouts will be held next Thursday, September 16. The girls will take place from 7:00-8:00 am and the boys will be after school from 3:00-5:00. They will then alternate time spots.

School Fees: School fees will be emailed to you at the end of the month and you will be able to pay through PowerSchool or cash or cheque in the office.

COVID: Just a reminder that if your child is feeling ill please have them stay home until they are feeling well again. If your child forgets or needs a mask, please don’t hesitate to let them know they can easily get one from the office.
