Message from the Principal
Hello parents,
In addition to the regular features of this newsletter, this week's edition has three particular noteworthy items:
- 89 students in the Junior-Senior High participated in our annual assembly program celebrating Black History Month. Additionally, a large group of elementary students were incorporated into the show. These kids practiced for weeks learning routines and fine tuning their performance; they were amazing! Be sure to check out the video below.
- Three seniors have been selected to compete on the Fox 29 tv show The ClassH-Room! They will be competing against a team of Woodbury teachers for a $500 prize!
- The Woodbury Girls Basketball team has won the conference championship for the first time in 65 years!
Please see the features below for more details. As always, we hope you enjoy these updates!

Mr. Seebadri's Students Take a Trip
Members of Mr. Seebadri’s Business and Entrepreneur Education Classes recently attended a Black Owned Business Leaders Conference. Students and members of the panel discussed opportunities and challenges/successes for black owned businesses. Kids were impressed and at least a little inspired. A few students reported that they could easily relate to the speaker's stories and backgrounds. One of the topics discussed in depth was self doubt and how it hampered people from taking the plunge into entrepreneurship. This hit home for a lot of kids. Another topic was how different people start businesses for different reasons. Some follow their passion, while some try to fill whatever needs they see in a community, while still others do it primarily for the money making potential and all are valid.
Musicians of the Week
The High School Musician of the Week is Savanah Duckworth!
Savanah is extremely involved in all aspects of school. In the music department she participates in Traveling Choir, the musical, and takes the new Singer Songwriter and Vocal Music Production and Performance Classes. She was most recently seen performing in a variety of acts for the Black History Month Assembly.
The Junior High School Musician of the Week is Sam Hall!
Sam is a leader in Junior High Band and was elected to be the Band President. He participated in Marching Band, and is a member of the Traveling Choir. He has thrived as a musician during his middle school career and has shown tremendous growth in three years!
Congratulations to both Savanah and Sam! #WoodburyPride

1. What is your "go to" song for the journey to school?
I’m a musician who enjoys a variety of genres, so I couldn’t pick just one “go to” song for the journey to school. My favorite morning playlist features a mix of R&B, pop, indie, and rap music ranging from the early 2000s through today. Upbeat and energizing songs are much needed after my early morning workouts!2. Do you have a favorite saying or quote that you try to live by?
“You can do anything, but not everything.” A gentle reminder to prioritize what matters in your life to avoid burnout.
3. What is one of your hidden talents?
I can scrounge up an incredible meal from any hodgepodge of ingredients.
4. What are your "trapped on a desert island" books or movies?
My favorite movies are The Shawshank Redemption, Dirty Dancing, and Roman Holiday. For books, it’s simple… the Harry Potter series, the best of all time. The series preys on our subconscious human desire for a little magic in life. Reading them makes you laugh out loud, gasp in terror, sputter in anger, sigh with romance, cry in sadness, and smile with joy.
5. If you could take your students on a field trip to anywhere in the world, where would you take them?
I would take them on a tour of Europe. You get to walk amidst living history, enjoy fabulous cuisine, marvel at the jaw-dropping views of both natural and urban sites, experience the culture and languages of diverse groups, travel easily between countries, and of course shop in some of the best stores around. It would be an experience they would never forget!
6. What is one piece of advice you would give to your students?
You can’t draw water from an empty well. Prioritize your self-care… get enough rest, do something just for you, choose things that bring you joy, learn to say “no” to things that aren’t going to fill up your cup, set healthy boundaries… these things aren’t selfish – they bring out your best!
