Nuts & Bolts
Week of March 12, 2018
Busy Week
I hope everyone enjoyed the beautiful sunshine this weekend. Last week was busy with maturation and Scales and Tales visiting school. The students seemed to be very engaged during both presentations.
Thank you for your engagement in Monday's staff meeting. The purpose of placing sticky notes beside each "extra" was to collect data so that the Advisory and Admin teams can plan for next year. The data indicated what "extras' teachers thought we could not live without at MMA. This data will be considered as we innovate ways to lighten everyone's load.
Thank you for taking the time to reflect on your strengths and struggles. To assist me in one of my struggles of getting into classrooms for observations, Kacee will be taking the lead in addressing administrative discipline referrals. Please follow the same paperwork submitting procedures - where referrals are submitted to the box outside my office (with related behavior reports, if applicable). If you have an immediate issue and escort child(ren) to the office, please be sure to fill out the admin referral asap.
Check out the agendas listed below for our professional learning this Friday, March 16th and Monday, March 19th.
Have a good week!
Construction Update
A few of us were at the right place at the right time on Friday and got to tour the addition. It was awesome and surreal to see what we've been staring at on paper in reality. I am trying to arrange for a time for the entire staff to take a tour; so, stay tuned!

Opera at MMA
On Tuesday March 13th, the Opera will visit elementary. This event will be held in the gym. The schedule is:
- 9:30-10:15am - Lower El
- 10:30-11:15am - Upper El
Please be prompt and ensure that at least one adult accompanies your class to the gym to assist with crowd control. Be sure to have completed the lesson John emailed prior to this experience.
Requesting Support
"Instructional support needed in room . . . " for a student who has an IEP.
"Admin support needed in room . . . " for a child without an IEP.
Please discontinue asking for assistance from a specific person. The instructional support team and special education folks have devised a rotation for responding to these emergency calls. When you ask for assistance, Dana will deploy a person to respond. This is necessary to prevent one person from being pulled from their other duties and lessons multiple times per day. This ultimately allows more consistency in your classroom because you won't fear your special educator being pulled for an emergency.
Thank you for your patience as we continually work to refine our process to best serve you and your students.
