Coming Of Age

Thesis: Michael Jordan was a very determined person and when he sets his mind to something, he will strive for it and do whatever it takes to achieve his goal.

Michael Jordan always had it inside of him to win and he played the best he could because he was very competitive and did whatever it took to win. His father states "What he does have is a competition problem. He was born with that ... the person he tries to outdo most of the time is himself."Growing up in Wilmington, North Carolina, he liked to play basketball more than spend time on academics. He would always play with his brothers, and they would beat him every time, but he knew that one day he would become a basketball legend.

In high school, he was cut from the team during sophomore year, but this drove him to be more determined and dedicated towards the sport he loved. He improved very rapidly and won a scholarship to to the University of North Carolina. Michael soon became a very important member of the colleges team, he helped them win the NCAA Division 1 championship in 1982 by scoring the final basket needed to beat Georgetown University. In 1963 and 1964, he was voted College Player of the Year too. This helped him gain more self confidence and become determined.

Michael Jordan is the now the greatest basketball legend of all time due to his hard work as a young adult and the effort he put into his life to achieve his all time goal.

Many events shaped Michael Jordans career, but there were some that stood out. In 1981, he was awarded with a basketball scholarship to the University of North Carolina and this encouraged him because he knew that he had a career in his best sport now. In 1984, the biggest event of his life was when he was admitted onto the Chicago Bulls. He also released his Air Jordan 1 in 1985 which was big for him because it helped him gain more self confidence knowing he was going to hit it off. In conclusion, he made NBA history and became the biggest legend of all time.
