So You're Coming to Middle School??
Follow these tips and 6th grade will be an easy year!
The First Day
The first day is always the hardest. I'm not gonna lie. On my first day of 6th grade, I started as a loner. I had only 1 friend and it was pretty hard making new friends. But as the first month went by, I got a lot of friends just by being friendly and inviting others to sit at lunch with me and I have a lot of really close friends now. Just be friendly and treat others the way you want to be treated.
Lockers
Lockers. They may seem cool and really fun in the movies, but they're a hassle. Sometimes your locker gets jammed, you forget your combination, or you have to keep getting into it because something keeps getting stuck. When I got a locker, I was really excited. I thought I was in a movie and I kept thinking, "This is going to be so fun!" But now, I wish I could just carry my backpack around instead. Lockers can be fun, but if you go to your locker during passing time, make sure you hurry and don't be tardy.
Norm Ridder (Mr. Ridder)
Norm Ridder is the Joplin, MO school district's superintendent. He comes to the school sometimes for a report on the school and how the teachers are teaching us.
Bud Sexson (Mr. Sexson)
Bud Sexson, a.k.a, Mr. Sexson, is East Middle School's principal. He's in charge of dress code, rules, discipline, etc. He isn't very strict if you follow the rules.
Jason Weaver (Mr. Weaver)
Jason Weaver, a.k.a, Mr. Weaver, is East Middle School's vice principal. He makes sure everybody is following the rules and he also helps Mr. Sexson with multiple things.
Block Schedule
Block Scheduling can be stressful. It gets confusing too. Your actual schedule won't look like this. It's actually a lot easier, but most of it won't make much sense at first. The more you use it, the easier it is to understand.
Clubs
Since you're in 6th grade, you can't join any sports yet. But you can join clubs. Clubs are a great way for extra time.
