Friday May 22, 2020
It is amazing that we are bringing closure to our 2019-2020 school year!! What a year! Just think...the impact of closures due to the various hurricanes pales when compared to this pandemic. Who could have even imagined that our 4th nine weeks would be one of distance learning?!
Well, we have almost brought the nine weeks and the school year to a close. Time to CELEBRATE!! Please join us for a Wave Parade on Wednesday, May 27! This parade will be from 10:00 until 11:30 a.m.
A few items still need to be picked up by some families so you will be able to get these and your yearbooks from your teacher. Yes, the yearbooks have arrived and we are so fortunate that we will be able to give them out on Wednesday...all except 5th grade yearbooks. These will be given out on Thursday evening at their 5th Grade Farewell Parade along with their treats. Items such as school books, library books, packets (check with your teacher about this), etc., may also be dropped off at this time. OR, you may always drop off these items in the boxes on the bench at the front door.
You will see the map for the Wave Parade on Wednesday below. Please remember that everyone will stay in their cars and travel carefully as some parents will need to stop for items. Teachers will socially distance and wear masks. If they are giving out items, they will also wear gloves. Here is a quick summary.
- 4K, 5K, and 5th grade teachers will be on the bus loop with a drop off as you leave the loop. You may leave this loop and turn right to enter the loop in front of the school.
- 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grade teachers will be on the front loops with a drop off as you leave the Midway campus.
- Related arts teachers and special areas teachers will be sprinkled around in the very front lawn and the middle of the front parking.
We do hope to see our smiling children for this event! Fifth grade parents you will receive more information about the Thursday event for your students. You may choose to attend both events or just the Thursday event.
Have a wonderful weekend!

Retirement Celebrations!!
Please join our Midway family in a bittersweet celebration of the retirements of Mrs. Jane Park and Mrs. Susan Shepherd. We know that these two very busy ladies may be leaving our classrooms but that they are off to new places and new journeys!
Mrs. Susan Shepherd has also been an educator for 40 years! She began her educational career in Richland School District Two for 16 years. She then joined Lexington School District one at Midway Elementary and has been with us for 24 years! Mrs. Shepherd will continue her exciting travels with friends and family as she is often found mapping out her next trip. During these adventures she and her husband will spend time traveling to also visit with their daughters! Mrs. Shepherd will truly be missed but we celebrate with her this new itenary of travels and adventure!
