End of the Year Celebrations!
Explore More Day 2021
Explore More Day 2021 took place in class across the week of June 1. In-person Madison teachers did Explore More Day activities with their students at different times throughout the week. The Madison PTA helped to fund the purchase and coordination of curriculum and supplies for these activities. Special thanks to Mr. Callahan, Mrs. Feeley and all the Madison teachers for making this special event happen!
- Another Explore More Day Opportunity: For Virtual Academy students, Mr. Callahan will make fleece pillows (an annual student favorite) on Friday, June 11 at 11:30am. Students may do one of the following to participate:
Yearbooks Available for VA Students!
If you ordered a Madison yearbook for your child, it is available for pick-up between 1-3pm this week. Please call the school office if you require an alternate time.
Congratulations to the Graduating 5th Graders!
5th Grade Clap-Out: Traditionally at Madison, the school celebrates the 5th graders' departure from Madison with a parade and “clap-out.” This year, the event will take place outdoors at 3:25pm, on Thursday, June 10 (last day of school). 5th Graders, both in-person and VA, will line up for an outdoor parade and clap-out at 3:15 on the blacktop path behind the school that leads toward the bridge to Gone Away Court. 5th Grade VA students may meet their in-person classmates there. VA parents may meet our other parents in the Westside parking lot to view the 5th-grade parade from there.
Video and Celebration: Special thanks to Christy Fusselbaugh Craig and Colleen Clemens Turner for the wonderful 5th grade video. You can watch it here. And although the 5th Grade Celebration looked a bit different this year, it was a success! The kids had pizza from Capri, ice cream treats from the Good Humor truck, learned how to use combination locks, played “Junk in the Trunk,” had a water balloon battle, brought home a new pet and a new Edison water bottle filled with candy! Thanks to Megan Savitt for leading the event!
Pre-Order School Supplies Now for 2021-22
As a service to parents, the PTA is now selling school supply kits for the 2021-22 school year. Carlson's Paint, Glass and Art store in Wheaton will assemble each kit and will have them ready for your student when they return to school in the fall.
Due to our current circumstances, we will not be accepting paper orders this year. All orders must be placed online by June 27th through Carlson's website. Please note that sales tax will be added to all online orders.

Have you wanted to get involved in a PTA committee, but don’t have a lot of time to commit?? Madison Cares is a high-impact, low involvement way to help show our students how they can make a difference in the community! You can do as little as volunteer 30 minutes in a classroom helping students with a simple project - or as much as taking part in planning and gathering supplies. Questions or want to get involved? Email: email@example.com.

District 200 Summer Learning Acceleration Opportunities
COVID-19 has impacted students in all different ways. District 200 is taking a comprehensive approach to analyze all students’ needs and determine programming to accelerate learning. This approach includes analyzing multiple data sources. A one-size-fits-all approach cannot meet all students' needs to accelerate learning; therefore, numerous summer opportunities have been designed. The full list of summer learning opportunities can be found on the District website at www.cusd200.org/summeropportunities. Families should contact their building administrator with questions about these programs.
