Lincoln Middle School -- Weekend Update
Good Afternoon Lincoln Families,
We are in the full swing of school, and clubs and activities will start soon. You will see below that a few opportunities are beginning, and we anticipate having more student options in the weeks ahead. Getting involved in clubs and activities helps foster a sense of belonging within the school. We want our students and staff to feel connected as they navigate these middle school years.
If you need anything, please don't hesitate to contact us!

District and Community News
TEACHING AND LEARNING | Dr. Kristin Vonder Haar
Important Information about English Language Arts (ELA):
As a District, we are always trying to get students and teachers what they need most. This year, as we aim to update our 6-8 English Language Arts (ELA) program, we will be piloting two curricular resources, Amplify and myPerspectives.
During the first half of the year, certain teachers at each grade level will teach one complete unit from our potential resources. Upon conclusion of these pilot, or trial, units, we will gauge how well the process worked for teachers and how effective it was for students. In the winter, our committee will present our findings to the Board of Education: this will include recommendations regarding the purchase of instructional materials and a timeline for professional learning, so that we can implement a new ELA curriculum at Lincoln for the 2024-2025 school year.
Here’s an overview of our schedule and participating teachers:
Amplify (Pilot Dates: Approximately August 28-October 6)
6th Grade: Komperda
7th Grade: Bovis & Prosen
8th Grade: Dahlgren & Traversone
myPerspectives (Pilot Dates: Approximately October 16-December 1)
6th Grade Accelerated: Felsenthal & Komperda
7th Grade Accelerated: Bovis & Prosen
8th Grade Accelerated: Dahlgren & Traversone
In the spring, we gathered parent/guardian feedback. We continue to welcome input, so if you did not have a chance to complete our parent/guardian survey in the spring, you may do so by completing the survey by October 1, 2023.

An Important Message from Prospect High School
Prospect High School has a strict policy for pre-high school-age students at football games to minimize behavioral issues with unsupervised kids at games. While we are excited to have future Knights support our football team, dance team, cheer team, and band, safety is our highest priority at all times. Please adhere to the following:
- Pre-high school-age students will only be admitted with their parents/guardians. Groups and drop-offs are NOT allowed. Pre-purchased online tickets will NOT be honored nor refunds granted for individuals not meeting this criteria.
- Pre-high school-age students must sit with their parent/guardian.
- Parental/guardian notification will occur if pre-high school-age students are unsupervised and/or creating behavioral issues.
Thank you for your continued support of Prospect HS and your partnership in creating a safe game day atmosphere for all guests.
Sincerely,
PHS Administration
