Art Director

What does an Art Director do? Art Directors are responsible for the visual style and images in magazines, newspapers, product packaging, and movie/television productions (which is the field I hope to go into). They create the overall design and direct others who develop artwork or layouts. In others words, an Art Director is the king of all art jobs!!!
Most Art Directors begin as Graphic, Industrial, Set Design, Fine Art, or Photography artists for 3-5 years. It is nearly impossible to go directly into the career.
To be a Art Director you must have a Bachelor of Arts or Fine Arts degree. At a job interview, a portfolio or record of the artists work must be shown. Communication, Creativity, Leadership, Time Management, and Geometry are important skills to have.
Art Directors can make anywhere from 30,000 to 80,000. For Iowa the average is $33,840, leaving me at a Net Salary of $1,983.51.
