Charlie Spaniard "WORLD'S TOUGHEST LIFELONG LEARNER"
~ Assembly on November 11th ~
"I’ve transitioned my experiences as a professional fighter into professional speaking and mentoring.Having fought the scariest men on Earth, taught junior and senior high Spanish, won a reality TV show on national television and read incessantly for many years, I call upon my matrix of personal experience and knowledge to inspire you, challenge you and make you believe.I’ve been knocked out cold on live television, and I’ve lived out my own “Rocky” story in front of a million people. Through traditional keynotes, workshops and Power Conversations, you’ll get an inside look at what it takes to compete, and win, at the highest levels."

~ Philadelphia Eagles - Fuel Up to Play 60 Pep Rally for 6th Grade on November 20th ~
What is Fuel Up to Play 60?
Fuel Up to Play 60, the nation’s largest in-school nutrition and physical activity program, works in 73,000 schools nationwide to increase physical activity, healthy eating habits and access to nutritious foods through student, teacher and parent involvement.
The program is a partnership between the National Dairy Council (NDC) and National Football League (NFL), in collaboration with the USDA, and is administered in the Southeast by The Dairy Alliance.
Fuel Up to Play 60 helps students make positive changes in their schools by improving opportunities to consume nutrient-rich foods and get at least 60 minutes of physical activity every day. The ultimate goal at schools is to ensure sustainable, positive changes that complement an academic environment. Families, communities and local governments all have a role in helping today’s children learn about the importance of proper nutrition and physical activity.
Robotic Team and Drones at Pottsgrove Middle School
On October 17th, the PGMS Lego Robotics 8th grade team had a visitor from Execlon to discuss new technology used at the Limerick Nuclear Power Plant. Mrs. Trexler is a mechanical engineer and a certified drone pilot. She is also a parent of one of our students. She discussed how the drones are used at the power plant to detect building and cooling tower mechanical issues while implementing innovative solutions that reduce injury risks and hazards for the employees on the job. She also demonstrated how to operate the drones that are used at the power plant and allowed the team to fly a drone.
The 8th grade Lego Robotic team will apply what they have learned about new technologies and drones to help them develop their project for the Lego Robotic competition which is on December 7th.

October 21st - October 25th Was Health and Wellness Week in PGSD and at Pottsgrove Middle School
It can be difficult to adopt good habits like eating healthier, remaining physically fit and avoiding stress. Once people try something they are more likely to continue with it. Health and Wellness Week allows people to try new activities that will improve their health and well-being.
The purpose of Health & Wellness Week is to make a positive impact on health and wellness overall, as well as to unite people through the common goal of preventing obesity and disease, promoting a better quality of life and living longer, and to celebrate life together.
Health and Wellness Week allows people to be exposed to, learn about and experience a multitude of ways to improve mind, body and spirit. In this way it allows them to consider how to incorporate ways to live healthier. Changes in lifestyle can be made more easily if people understand what options are available to them.
(Pictured above is a mural made by the students and staff related to positive messages presented to the faculty and students (On Thoughtful Thursday) - Thank-you to Mr. Palladino for all his work organizing Health and Wellness Week of Pottsgrove Middle School)
