POLYNOMIALS

  • Monomial- A polynomial with only ONE term. Ex. 3x2
  • Binomial- A polynomial with TWO terms. Ex. 3x2 + 2
  • Trinomial- A polynomial with THREE terms. Ex. 3x2 − 3y2 + 2
  • Polynomial- MANY terms using multiplication, addition, and subtraction; however, NO DIVISION. Ex. 3x^2........

DEGREES

  • 4th DEGREE TRINOMIALS- 3x^2 - 3y^2 + 2
  • 5th DEGREE BINOMIALS- 3x^2 + 2
  • 6th DEGREE POLYNOMIAL-7x^2y^3 + 4x^1y0 - 9x^0y^0

Whats Not a Monomial

  • 4x^2 + 2
  • 5x^2 - 4y^2 + 3
  • 8x^2y^3 + 4x^1y5 - 3x^0y^0

Addition Example Problems

  • (5x^2 + 3x -8) + (3x^2 + 7x + 8)

(3x^2 + 7x + 8)

  • (6x^2 + 3x + 10) + (6 + 3x^2 - 2x)

(3x^2 + 2x + 6)

+_____________

9x^2 + x + 16

Subtraction Example Problems
