Summer School Information:
There are two different types of summer school students can take. For those students who would like to get ahead or are lacking a core course (and they have never taken the class) they have the option to enroll in Katy Virtual School:
High School Original Credit
Katy Virtual School
(incoming 9th - incoming 12th graders)
The Katy ISD Virtual School's primary objective is to expand the learning opportunities for our students by offering choice and flexibility for challenging online courses developed by Katy ISD.
During the summer, incoming 9-11th grade students can choose from a variety of original credit courses offered online in the asynchronous format. Visit our website at (https://www.katyisd.org/KVS ) for details regarding course options and to access the registration application.
Dates: Two sessions A&B
- Session 1: May 31 - June 29, 2023
- Session 2: July 5 - August 2, 2023
Application: Opens February 1, 2023
Cost: $200 per semester per course ($50 per course for students on reduced lunch; cost is free for students on free lunch).
The other option for summer school is for those students who have failed a core subject; these students can sign up for credit recovery.
Credit recovery will be offered online and asynchronously with teachers available to provide support both online and in-person at the KSAT summer campus.
Dates: Online courses will open June 5 , 2023 and will close at noon on June 29, 2023.
In-person support will be available with academic support lab sessions at Raines Academy:
- Monday through Thursday, June 5 - 29, 2023
- 8:00am - 11:00am OR
- 12:30pm - 3:30pm
Transportation: ALL Katy ISD high school students attending Martha Raines Academy (MRA) for the 2023 Katy Summer Academic Term (KSAT) may choose a route at one of our four bus hub locations. The route you choose should be the most convenient stop near your home campus or your place of residence.
Application: Opens May 1, 2023
Cost: No cost

Important Information for Volunteers
As of January 4, Katy ISD’s Raptor volunteer registration requirement has officially extended to all volunteers serving off-campus after the instructional day. This requirement applies to all Booster Clubs and any outside organization recruiting and placing volunteers to work with students.

REMINDER*** MCHS is a CLOSED CAMPUS (7:15-2:35)
Why: Safety of our campus
Students may NOT leave campus for lunch. During lunch, students are to report to their designated lunch room. Students who leave campus for lunch will be subject to disciplinary action as outlined in the Discipline Management Plan. Ordering food delivery is not permitted. Students should never open an exterior door or go outside to receive a food order or let others into the building. If a student needs a lunch during the school day, parents may drop food off in the main office and students can pick it up during their designated lunch time. We appreciate everyone’s support and cooperation to keep our building safe.
Microwaves are NOW available in both cafeterias for student use!
Attendance Procedures for Excused Absences and Checking a Student In/Out
When students miss school, they must bring a note to the attendance office upon their return to campus in order to have their absence excused. Absences can be excused with a parent note or doctors note. If you have questions, please contact the appropriate grade level Attendance Clerk.
