Building Pathways To Success
From The Principal's Desk August 30, 2020
Greetings!
Happy Sunday! Week #2 down! Thanks for your continued patience and support during this time. We had a great second week and are ready for the third.
IMPORTANT...IMPORTANT...IMPORTANT...IMPORTANT...IMPORTANT...IMPORTANT
FCS will be heading into Re-opening Phase 1 on September 8th. During this window, PK - 2nd grade students will begin Face To Face instruction in small groups specifically identified by the district and school. Staff will begin calling parents on Monday, August 31st, to notify parents of their child's reporting day.
Important Facts:
1. PK - 2nd grade students will report on September 8th by the alphabet of their last names. Students must report only on the identified days. Reporting days can not be altered. These days are linked to the bus routes. We do understand that some siblings have different last names and the reporting schedule will be the same for those identified students.
Monday – A through E
Tuesday – F through K
Thursday – L through P
Friday – Q through Z
2. Pk - 2nd grade students will report in one of two identified time slots for 90 minutes.
Group 1: 7:40 AM-9:10 AM
Group 2: 10:40 AM-12:10 PM
3. Special Education student schedules may differ slightly. Special Education teachers have notified parents of these schedules.
4. PreK-2 students will be identified to attend one of the 2 F2F sessions 1 day per week for 90 minutes.
5. F2F sessions will be offered four days a week – No Wednesdays Wednesdays will follow the current schedule in place for students.
6. PreK-2 students from the same household will attend the same day and session.
7. F2F group sizes will be limited to no more than four (4) students.
8. Transportation will be provided by FCS bus or by parent drop off/pick up.
9. Bus transportation schedules will be published on 8/31/2020.
10. Face coverings will be required of employees and students. Some low incidence special needs students will be unable to wear masks for the duration and accommodations will be made.
11. Snacks will be provided.
12. This is an optional reporting day for students.
13. Parents are asked to adhere to assigned times for reporting. Timely drop off and pick up is essential so that teachers can manage the instructional schedule.
14. Learning packets are available for pick up and electronically.
15. Schedules for students in grades 3-5 will remain the same right now.
16. Please see the WCES Prevention Strategies chart. This outlines our health and safety strategies in place as staff and students return to Face To Face. It is posted as a separate document. It will be available on Class Dojo, the school website and as an attachment in this posting.

IMPORTANT It is important that each parent register for your Infinite Campus Parent Portal Account. Please register as soon as possible. This will be important for access to daily lessons with teachers via your child's Classlink account. All students have a Classlink account and it is a one stop shop for all instructional sessions. Students previously enrolled have access now, this did not change. New students will be provided steps to log on by their teachers during Open House.
Are you registered for your Parent Portal Account? If not, please register. Everything you need as a parent is in the parent portal account. You are able to monitor your student's grades throughout the school year, review your child's schedule, pull report cards, update your contact information, register other students within your household, and so much more! Please click the link provided to register.

Back to School Assessment - iReady Diagnostic
It is time for us to take the iReady Diagnostic for Reading and Math. Only the 3rd-5th grade students will take the assessment virtually with their teacher. The diagnostic is not your traditional assessment. It begins with the student responding to questions for each domain in reading and math. The diagnostic adapts based on the student’s response on the questions. The data gives us information to place students on a personalized path.
Teachers will let parents and students know their individual testing schedule. Please review the links which will provide you with additional information for the iReady Diagnostic and how to prepare your child(ren) at home for the assessment. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to your child’s teachers.
