Message from the Principal

Dear Central Road Families,

We can’t wait to connect with our families next week to share your child’s progress with you during parent-teacher conferences.

Picture Day proofs were sent home last week. We mailed the pictures to our families who have virtual students. Picture re-takes are on Thursday, November 19th. If your child is an in-person learner, please notify their teacher if you would like a re-take. If your child is a virtual student, please send me an email if you would like a retake. Re-takes will take place from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.

The PBIS Data for the month of October was impressive! We had 99% of the virtual and in-person students who were major free. Way to go Central Road! Students have earned a celebration which will be an Electronics Day. On Friday, November 20th, students may bring a handheld electronic to school. Students may also play games on their Chromebooks.

Central Road will be hosting a Food Drive that will be sponsored by our PTA. After Thanksgiving break, students are invited to donate non-perishable food items. The food will be donated to a local food bank. The food drive will be held in collaboration with all five District 15 Rolling Meadows schools. There will be some fun prizes that a couple of lucky students will win! Our PTA will share more information soon.

The Board of Education agreed to close for in-person instruction the week after Thanksgiving break to limit the potential spread of COVID stemming from holiday celebrations. This in-person closure will be from Monday, November 30 to Friday, December 4.

Central Road will be hosting a materials distribution for virtual students on Monday, November 23rd from 12:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. A bag of materials will be ready for our virtual students. This distribution is not intended for our in-person students. Please pull up to Door 1, and a staff member will greet you. Please have your students name and grade level on your dashboard. We kindly ask that families staff in their vehicles.

My newsletter will resume after Thanksgiving.

Let’s make it a great week!

District-Wide Adaptive Pause November 30-December 4

At its November 11 meeting, the Board of Education approved a plan to implement an Adaptive Pause across the District the week after Thanksgiving, implementing fully remote instruction Monday, November 30 through Friday, December 4.

The plan to pause in-person learning November 30-December 4 stems from an anticipated increase in cases shortly after the Thanksgiving holiday. Research suggests that family gatherings are a main driver of COVID-19 spread. Pausing the week after the Thanksgiving holiday would mean infected individuals would become symptomatic while outside of our schools, reducing infectious spread within our buildings.

Lou Malnati's Pizza Fundraiser: Central Road School’s 6th graders are doing a fundraiser for their end-of-year celebration and will be selling gift certificates for frozen pizzas (9in cheese, sausage, pepperoni, or spinach). Anyone can purchase and use these pizza certificates! Besides being great to have on hand for your family, the certificates are great stocking stuffers and holiday gifts for teachers, neighbors, baby-sitters, friends, etc. The certificates are $13 each, valid for 6 months, and can be redeemed at any Lou Malnati’s restaurant/take-out store. We have one conveniently located on NW Hwy in Palatine, but they have locations throughout IL. In order for us to distribute the cards by early December, we need to have orders in by Thursday, November 19. For more details on how to order, click here for the flyer.
