School Update
Dear Students & Families,
We are proud to share that we had our 1st Bilingual Curriculum Night and many of our new bilingual families attended. We also initiated our 5th Grade Peer Leaders group. For Curriculum Night, they created posters, escorted parents to the various classrooms and gave-out informational fliers. They were so excited about this opportunity and executing their responsibilities well. They did a fabulous job! Do know, they are already making plans for the next big activity. I have included a few pictures from our 3 -5 Curriculum Night (see below). Also, we have installed a hallway SMART TV monitor. It is there to provide updates on the happenings at King. Our students seem to enjoy seeing their pictures and learning about their teachers from the monitor.
Good News!
From Dr. Tremblay:
I was delighted to see a light frost this morning.
Bottom line: I am reinstating recess and outdoor activities during the daytime hours effective immediately.
However, please note the following expectations below:
- Everyone should continue to be vigilant in taking appropriate personal precautions such as wearing long pants, long sleeve shirts, socks, and shoes, and apply proper insect repellents in the morning, before school;
- Consistent with the Board of Health restrictions, all outdoor activities continue to be prohibited from dusk until dawn until the first hard frost of the season (28 degrees for at least four hours)
Thank you very much for your patience and understanding over this last month. I know it has been a tremendous inconvenience, but the well-being of our students and staff continues to guide my decision-making process. My thanks to Dr. Wong and the Framingham Board of Health for their support and partnership.
I look forward to great and safe week!
Sincerely,
Dr. Marguerite Lackard
Principal

From Our Physical Education Department
I just wanted to share some important information for students who are new to our school and those who need a gentle reminder. Please, have your child wear appropriate sneakers/shoes during their scheduled PE class. It is important that students wear appropriate shoes/sneakers, so they do not cause injury to themselves or others.
We do have a few pairs of sneakers that are available to borrow during your child's class, but I am also looking for donations of in "good condition" shoes/sneakers that can be worn during scheduled PE time. We need varying sizes of sneakers/shoes for students in the 3-5 grades. Your child can bring the donated shoes to class and I will have them accessible to our students here at King!
Thank you for your consideration.
Best,
Erik Delehanty
Make Attendance a Priority
As a partner in your child’s education, you can help by working with us to make school attendance a priority. By doing so, you will help your child to earn better grades, develop healthy life habits and relationships, and have a better chance of graduating from high school ready for work or college.
Here are several tips to help your child attend school every day:
Make sure your child(ren) keep a regular bedtime and establish a morning routine so they are rested and alert when they get to school;
Turn off all electronics including TVs, phones, and tablets at bedtime;
Make sure clothes and backpacks are ready the night before school;
Check with our school nurse if you are not sure about when to keep your child at home due to illness;
Avoid scheduling vacations or doctor’s appointments when school is in session;
Talk to teachers, social workers, or counselors for advice if your child(ren) feel anxious about going to school;
Develop back-up plans for getting to school if something comes up. Call on a family member, neighbor, or another parent to take your student to school; and
Above all, let us know how we can help with any barriers you may be facing to get your child to school every day.
Cell Phone & Electronic Devices Policy
We have been encountering issues relating to electronic device usage during the school day by students. Please, do not call or have a student class you during the school day on his/her phone. If the matter is important, call the main office and we can contact the student. Note: The school will not assume responsibility for lost or stolen items under any circumstances.
Cell Phones and Electronic Devices
These items are not allowed to be used during the school day. If parents provide their child with a cellphone it must be turned off and kept in their backpack. If a student has their cell phone/electronic device out during the school day, the staff member will confiscate the item, notify parents and return it to the student at the end of the day. If there are repeat offenses, items will be confiscated and parents will be contacted and asked to come to the school and meet and pick up the phone/device.
