Simple Machines! By Lindsey Hern and Noa Yamaguchi
In Mr. Brooks and Mrs. Blood’s fourth grade classes we worked on Science projects to construct compound machines using simple machines. A compound machine is a combination of simple machines that perform a task. Some examples of simple machines are a lever and a pulley.
Fourth graders, Keanna, Marcus, McKenzie Peck, Lindsey and Noa made a compound machine that watered a plant. It was really cool. This is how it worked, first you pull back a wheel and axle that is connected to a pulley, then the pulley pulls the lever up and the lever has a string connected to it which is pulled back by a sling shot and shoots a sponge to water a plant.
Ray, Rowan, Alysia, Reese and Noah B made a simple machine. It is a ball rolling down an inclined plane and the ball hits a block which falls and hits dominoes and knocks a val which rolls into a cardboard tube and knocks over more dominoes and hits a ball which rolls into a water bottle.

Joeys
By Reese Mount
What if the Joeys all bounced on their heads?
What if the Mommas have inside out beds?
And Papas all slept in big houses and snored and people wake screaming
Because of the hordes?
And Joeys ate wolves to get fatter and fatter
And then all the mothers had very loose bladders?
And then all the Papas went and called each other dude
And Joeys played flasher and ended up nude?!
And Mommas and Papas got married with poodles
And Joeys wore flowers and had food-fights with noodles?
What if the kangaroos landed on Mars?
And for dinner they had space cereal bars?
And they spoke English and Irish and Thai?
If I was a kangaroo, I think I'd die.
Kangaroo
By Angelous Santmyer
What if.. you have a
Kangaroo as your pet?
What will you do?
I will run out the door.
What if kangaroos had noses?
Something I will do
Something if I was you.
What if they jumped on your head?
I will hide in the kitchen in a cupboard
That turns.
What if .. they find you?
I will go to outer space.

*Poached means that people kill these animals illegally.
Fun Facts

- The biggest kind of elephant is the African elephant.
- Elephants only sleep for four hours a night and not always in a row.

Pre-K at Enfield School By Keanna Walton
There are two Pre- Kindergarten classes at Enfield School. One class has Ms. Kathleen Halton as the teacher and the other class teacher is Mrs. Sharon Ciferri.
Students in Pre-K are 3, 4 and 5 years old.
I interviewed one of the Pre-K kids in Ms. Kathleen’s class. Her name is Adrianna. She told me that she is learning about numbers and letters. She is drawing pictures in Art class. Her hopes and dreams for the school year are to have friends. The thing Adrianna likes the best about school is playing with friends. Adrianna also really likes to ride bikes on the small Pre-K playground. For the people who skipped their year of Pre-K, I am sorry. You missed out on a lot of fun!
