Kingsley Connection

A weekly newsletter from the Kingsley Administrative Team

DECEMBER 9, 2022

Dear Kingsley Families,

On Friday, December 16th, we are celebrating this year by bringing all staff together for lunch. In order to do so, we are seeking volunteers to cover the lunch/recess supervision. Please see below for more information.

We are grateful to all who coordinated and attended the Kingsley Pancake Breakfast and Holiday Shop. It was a huge turnout and a lot of fun for all.

One of our final Playground Fundraisers is the McTeacher Night. Staff will be working at McDonald's this Wednesday, December 14th starting at 4:00pm. Please see the flyer below.

As a friendly reminder, when dropping students off in the carline, adults should stay in the vehicle as children exit on the sidewalk side. This keeps our students safe and expedites our carline process. Thank you for your cooperation.

Have a great weekend,

Chuck Brewster & Eleni Gajewski

We Need Your Help...

We are excited to celebrate our Kingsley staff and the hard work they do on behalf of our Kingsley students. We are looking to you for help to make this happen.

  • We will be hosting a staff luncheon on Friday, December 16th, and are seeking supervisor volunteers during lunch/recess so staff can eat lunch together.
  • Please sign up here and add your name to a time slot if you are able to supervise lunch/recess.

Last Call! Thank a Kingsley staff member by Monday!

Complete a Gratitude Gram! Staff will receive these on Friday, December 16th. There is no greater gift than the gift of kind words. Please let the Kingsley staff know how much they are appreciated this holiday season! You may do multiple submissions.

LINK to submit by Tuesday, December 13th.

Our goal is to have at least ONE comment for EACH staff member.

Student Council Pajama Day

The Kingsley Student Council has organized a Pajama Day for Friday, December 16th. All staff and students are encouraged to participate by wearing school-appropriate pajamas. Please, no stuffed animals, just wearing the pajamas is encouraged.

Kingsley Playground: Last Call For Donations!

We would like to express our appreciation to the Playground Committee Members, Kingsley PTA, and DG58's Kevin Barto for their partnership in reaching our December 2022 fundraising goal for a new playground. These volunteers have worked tirelessly for over a year and we are thrilled to say that we have met our goal! The committee has received feedback from staff and students on the playground features and colors. Construction will begin in June after school is out.

It's not too late to donate!

Board Game Club ~1st and 2nd Grades

Board Game Club is starting soon for 1st and 2nd grade!

The club will run every Tuesday from January 10th to February 14th (no meeting on February 7th) from 3:00-3:45pm, hosted by Mrs. Hannigan.

We will spend time each week learning and playing new games with peers. Students are welcome to bring a favorite game from home or they can choose from the many games that will be available to them. We will make new friends, practice our problem-solving skills, and have fun! If interested, keep an eye out for a flyer that will be sent home the week of December 12th. Please fill it out and return it to your child's homeroom teacher.

Future dates and information are to come for grades third through sixth.

Winter Benchmarking

The District 58 benchmarking window opens December 12th for Aimsweb and January 4th for MAP. The window closes on January 20th. Teachers will send out information to families about their child's MAP testing day.

Parking During Arrival and Dismissal

We ask that all Kingsley families please be considerate of the neighbor's driveways. If you need to park your car, please do not block the driveways. Our neighbors need to be able to enter and exit their driveways as needed.

As a reminder, the parking lot is closed during arrival and dismissal. This allows district buses and vans to complete their routes. Also, for the safety of students, we do not want them walking through the parking lot with moving vehicles.

These procedures allow for the safety of our students and neighbors. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.

Lunch/Recess Sub Coverage

If any parents are interested in being put on our lunch/recess sub list, please contact the main office.
