Weekly Newsletter
This week, I'd like to highlight two of our student groups - our surf team and our MCJROTC Raider team.
This past weekend, our EC Surf team competed in a surf competition in Mission Beach. I am proud to announce that our EC surfers won the match against Coronado. CONGRATULATIONS to Coach Leste and the EC Surf team!
Our MCJROTC Raider Team (physical fitness competition team) competed at the Murrieta Valley HS Raider Slayer competition a couple weeks ago and they did an excellent job! We took 3rd place in the mixed gender category and won top honors as the Best Rookie Team!
These are the first awards since 2019 and the first ever team awards for EC MCJROTC in Raider Competitions. CONGRATULATIONS to Captain (Ret) Moreno our MCJROTC instructor and the entire JROTC team who competed! Way to go Wildcats!!

Thank you for your support in helping ensure students have fun while still following district and school guidelines and keeping everyone safe.
Impact Aid Survey Cards - Please Return
If you have not already signed and sent the Impact Aid card back to school with your student, please ensure you do so this evening. It is very important that we receive 100% of the Impact Aid cards returned to school as this information has a significant impact on school and district funding. The federal government provides funds to OUSD based on the results of this form. Thank you for taking the time to complete this valuable form!

It's Cold & Flu Season!
Cold and flu season is upon us. Health officials are warning there may be high levels of influenza compared to the past two years, when COVID-19 precautions helped keep flu infections low. As a reminder, please do not send your child to school if they are feeling sick or experiencing symptoms of a virus. Keeping your sick child home will be a great benefit for the health and wellness of our students and staff.
The flu is a contagious respiratory illness caused by influenza viruses. It can cause mild to severe illness. You can click on this link to find prevention tips from the CDC.
The influenza vaccine is available at doctors’ offices and retail pharmacies and is covered by medical insurance. People with no health care coverage can get vaccinated at one of the County’s six public health centers or a local community clinic. To find the nearest location, visit the County’s Flu Vaccine Locations page or call 2-1-1 San Diego. The CDC recommends that everyone 6 months and older get vaccinated every year.
