It's been a busy week! Last night we had a great time welcoming our incoming K families at Kindergarten Orientation! I really appreciate all those who attended and the opportunity to build relationships with our future Kindergarten parents. Thanks to our wonderful office staff, PTA, and JK/K teachers for the work that they did to make the night a success!
We had six 4th and 5th graders represent Spring Mills at the last school board meeting. Students were chosen by teachers to talk about all that we did for the Great Kindness Challenge. They all did a fantastic job showcasing a great event at Spring Mills Elementary and made all of us proud to be a Shark! There is a picture below.

Golf Cart Reminder:
As the weather starts to warm, golf carts start rolling up! One of the great things about this being a neighborhood school is that closeness of community and being able to do things like use your golf cart to pick up your child from school! However, please be sure to follow our guidelines in terms of safe areas to park. Our buses use the courts to park and turn around. It's important that there are no golf carts on the court for the safety of everyone. Please stay on the path and paved area that is off the courts.
Don't forget to check your March is Reading Month calendar for all of the fun dress up and activity days ahead this week!
Take care,
Sarah Bentley, SM Principal
New Mental Health Resource for Families
We are pleased to share that Huron Valley Schools is offering a new resource to support mental health and wellness. ParentGuidance.org is free to all staff, parents, and families in our district.
ParentGuidance.org is a service developed by licensed therapists that provides trusted and specialized courses, professional support, and a safe community to learn how to support our children and get answers to mental health questions.
HVS is inviting all our families and staff to take part in a Mental Health Night hosted by ParentGuidance.org. This virtual event will inform our families about the online resource and help them understand the ParentGuidance.org tools and resources. The Family Mental Health Night virtual event will be held on Wednesday, March 8 from 8:00pm – 9:00pm. Use this link to register: https://CookCenter.info/March8
This virtual event will be hosted by ParentGuidance.org clinical director, Dr. Kevin Skinner. Dr. Skinner is a Marriage and Family Therapist and will be answering questions from participants.
Our hope is that ParentGuidance.org will give concerned parents an additional place to go for answers to support and help their children struggling with depression, anxiety, self-harm, bullying, grief and family strife, just to name a few, as well as provide tools for forming stronger bonds between parents and their children.
We have flyers to send home with all the details. If you have parents who seem to be struggling or overwhelmed, please remind them of this site where they can get trusted resources. ParentGuidance.org is free and confidential.
Look for this logo on our Health and Wellness page under the For Parents navigation bar on our website www.hvs.org, to learn more about this free service available to our district.
Do you know someone in need of home repairs or lawn work? Rebuilding Together Huron Valley chapter is now accepting applications from low-income homeowners to make home improvements for them free of charge. Please share this link and encourage people to apply: www.thrive-church.us/rebuilding-together-2023application.
Rebuilding Together is a national, volunteer-based non-profit dedicated to repairing homes for those in need. The build day is still to be determined.
