Message from the Principal
OCPS Parents,
Welcome back after the holiday break! Our teachers have been working hard to plan for a successful second half of the school year. Thank you for always supporting their efforts and for sending your children to us ready to learn each day.
This is a good time of year to review school procedures for inclement weather days. In most instances, school district officials make school closing decisions early in the morning, usually by 6:00 a.m. It is important that our school records include accurate contact phone numbers for parents so that school closing phone calls are actually received. If you have not updated your contact information in Power School lately, please log on and double-check all information carefully. The school district uses the contact phone numbers listed in Power School for parent phone calls.
In the event that school is closed early, we need to be aware of parent preferences for dismissal. It is very important that this information also be up to date in Power School. Please use the emergency transportation box to indicate transportation choices for early release days. Some daycares will also close early on inclement weather days so it’s important to make contact with them and have an alternate plan.
If you need assistance with accessing Power School to update this information, please contact Susan McCommons (706-769-7941 Extension 1002) in the school office.
Thank you for partnering with us to provide a safe and positive learning experience for your child. It is an honor to serve as your Principal.
Sincerely,
Jennifer L. Whitaker
