Reading is NOT Dead. Long Live Reading!
Our focus so far this year in the Wamogo LMC has been three-fold:
- Read more print books.
- Read more e-books.
- Read more books...period!
Thanks to Google Single-Sign On access, students only need to be logged into their school Google/Gmail account to check out e-books through OverDrive. This year we negotiated a "2-for-1" deal for purchase of titles, and the dividends have paid off. Circulation is up 185% vs. last year, and we have expanded our catalog to over 1,000 electronic and audio books. Students can check out three OverDrive titles at a time. How about choosing a few now to read over winter break?
Over 100 titles have been added to our ever expanding Destiny print collection, featuring all of the 2018 Nutmeg Book Award nominees as well as all titles specifically requested by students, for students. Traditional print book readership is also up, currently 11% higher than this time last year. With over 100 new titles to choose from, and 6,500+ titles in our library, there's something for everyone!
