Principal's Message
Hello CV Family,
This past week we celebrated Wellness Week. As a campus, we believe in focusing on student wellness beyond just one week. As exciting as it is for students, parents, and staff to be heading into the halfway mark of the school year, this can be a difficult time of year for students. The holidays can be challenging for some, as can the pressure on the academic side. As we approach finals, student expectations can be challenging. This season is a great time to connect with your child on how they handle the pressures and associated challenges of being a student. As we navigate the final weeks of the semester, please let us know if there is anything we can do to be of assistance.
Please note a couple of items I’d like to highlight, some of which have a detailed description and are in the newsletter with more detailed information.
Next Level and Coyote Preview Night: We are pleased to share that current 8th-grade South Valley Junior High students will be coming to Campo on 2/1 for Next Level. This two-hour event will help students learn more about Campo and its courses and programs. We will follow up with our traditional Coyote Preview Night on 2/6, allowing parents and students to explore course offerings and programs on our campus. Please keep these dates in mind if you have a student transitioning to Campo for the 2023-2024 school year.
Coyote Celebration: Some of us are very privileged to have the opportunity to see ALL that takes place on our campus, from athletics, activities, academics, and our service groups. As well as the accomplishments of our staff. In an effort to let everyone see the diverse celebrate as a school, last Wednesday during Coyote Time, we gathered in the stadium. Our marching band shared their state championship performance with our students and staff. We then moved on to recognize almost one hundred students and staff for their accomplishments. It was a reminder of the level of excellence, especially when we learn about students placing nationally and internationally in competitions. Teams were recognized, and individuals all shared the spotlight. Lastly, we also celebrated our letter grade from the Arizona Department of Education. It was so well received that we will continue this tradition in the future!
Finals Schedule: It is important to review our finals schedule, especially for families new to Campo. The schedule is linked on our website and in the newsletter.
Best regards,
Mr. Tyler Dumas

counseling corner
Each month the counseling team likes to get out to see the amazing things happening in students’ classrooms. So far, we’ve this year we have been able to visit Mr. Nolf’s Honors Geometry, Mr. Dillard’s Animal Science, Ms. Krauser’s Environmental Science, Mrs. Blackburn’s Anatomy, Mr. Kozacek’s Band and have been on multiple field trips with Ms. McLaren’s Business classes. Mrs. Lange has been able to have a little Zumba fitness fun with Mrs. Cook’s Dance classes, Mrs. Schnittger’s Yoga class and Mrs. Blackburn’s Girls PE class.
We’ve also enjoyed getting to know our students each month during their lunches by playing games and passing out candy and stickers!
Global Academy Online Classes
Students currently taking online classes need to make sure they are on pace with their assignments and submitting their attendance daily. Go to the link below for instructions on how to submit attendance correctly: https://www.gilbertschools.net/domain/1521. Students should be working on their class daily to avoid being dropped. Students should also be aware of their course’s end-date, and ensure that they have taken the final exam and requested their final grade prior to the end of the course. Any questions or scheduling of final exams can be directed to Mrs. Jacobson at amy.jacobson@gilbertschools.net.
Students wishing to enroll in an online class outside of the school day must follow this link: https://www.gilbertschools.net/Page/1459 and fill out the Concurrent Enrollment Google Form. band
The Coyote Pride Marching band heads to Hawaii on 12/3/22 to march in the annual Pearl Harbor Memorial Day Parade on 12/7/22. Support the band program by catching the LIVE Stream! We are #28 out of 86 entries in the parade. It will be live-streamed and will begin at 9pm Arizona time. Find the link on pearlharborparade.org
During the trip, students, staff, chaperones, and add-on travelers will tour the North shore, Dole Plantation, and Polynesian Center, and enjoy the sites and sounds of the island.
Our annual Families Take the Field and encore performance was on 11/12/22 and was a tremendous success. Parents, siblings, grandparents, and families came out to learn how we rehearse on the field! Staff worked with all families on marching technique, flag basics, percussion basics, and drill. A special thank you to all who supported the marching band his season! We could not do it without you!

Choir
Congratulations are in order for the Campo Verde Concert Choir! They recently received the highest ranking, Superior with Distinction with a near perfect sight reading score, at the ACE Choral Festival. Way to go, keep up the hard work!
Members of our Advance Vocal group also had the privilege of singing our national anthem for the Quartz Hill Veteran's Day Program, the Gilbert Chamber of Commerce Community Awards Ceremony and at the Town of Gilbert Veteran's Day celebration. They represented our choirs well and received high praise from event organizers.
Boyd Schnepf was selected to participate and perform with the All State Jazz Choir at the All State Jazz & Show Festival (Jan 31 - Feb 2) with a performance on February 2nd. This is a great honor, as their top Jazz Choir is made of the top 20 students from the state. Congratulations Boyd!
If you want to hear these groups and the other excellent CVHS choirs, join us for our holiday concert on Friday, December 16 at 7:00 PM in the auditorium. Prior to the concert, we will have a silent auction where you can bid on several great items including gift cards, tickets to local and state attractions, valuable baseball cards and bobbleheads and much more. Our silent auction will begin at 6:00 PM, come early and check it out!
We are still taking donations for our silent auction. If you're interested in supporting the choir program in this way, email cvhschoirboosters@gmail.com.
For anyone interested in auditioning for CAMPO IDOL, the sign up sheet is on the Choir Room door. We are auditioning for VOCALISTS and an EMCEE on Wednesday, December 7th from 4-8 pm in the choir room! Vocalists must memorize and perform a song of any style (school appropriate). You can use an accompaniment track or live accompaniment. Either way, be prepared with that at the audition.
Emcees, be prepared to introduce a ballad & upbeat performance. Develop your own script. Perform these two introductions as your audition.
You don't have to be in choir to audition! Come one, come all! Any questions, see Mrs. Flores in the choir room or email her at cyndi.flores@gilbertschools.net! Campo Idol will be January 20th in the CVHS Auditorium.

Library Updates
*********************************
Library News and Information:
We are proud to announce that our school has been selected to participate in the Young Adult Favorites program. It is a national reading program organized by the nonprofit Children’s Book Council. Teens across the country will read and vote for their favorite new books during fall 2022, and their top picks – Young Adult Favorites – will comprise a free classroom & library resource for 2023. Students should see Mrs. Flaherty in the library if they are interested in participating.
Chromebook Information:
Our students recently were asked to change their password and to set up their preferences in order to have a MultiFactor Authentication System. This will keep their accounts more secure, especially from outside hackers. Now when students login to their account, they will have two different steps to prove their identity to login. The first step is their password and the second step is identifying their selected preferences in a line up of simple shapes. If a student forgets their selections, they can come to the library and have them reset.
Digital Citizenship:
If your teen wants a video game this year and you know nothing about it- look no further! Use the parent section of CommonSenseMedia. It reviews each game with an age recommendation, a section that explains the game, a section with other parents’ opinions, and a 0-5 rating on hot topics such as violence, language, romance, etc. It will tell you the game details of the platform to find the game on and the price. And lastly, it has talking points for you to bring up with your teen. It’s SO helpful!
