Silver Gate Elementary

Week of June 13, 2022

I 💗 SG❗

We made it! This year has been filled with triumphs (being back in school, getting to be with friends) and challenges (masking and mental health) and has required flexibility, patience, understanding from all of us.

I am proud to be the Principal here and work beside each of you and your wonderful children to make this year a success, despite the challenges. I have learned through the years how resilient and strong our school community is. Thank you for letting us help your child develop into an amazing little person! We are grateful.

I hope you and your family can take some time out this summer to enjoy our beautiful weather, spend quality time together , and make some lasting memories. Please stay safe and healthy!

Reminder: Tuesday, June 14th is a minimum day - 12:35 dismissal

ST MATH PIZZA PARTY

ST Math 100% students for to munch down on pizza this week! Way to go for being such great math thinker, puzzlers and problem solvers!

SECOND GRADE with the Rad Hatter:

Second graders got to wrap up the school year with the Rad Hatter! They turned paper grocery bags into fabulous designer-worthy hats with ribbons, feathers, stickers and their pure imagination. They designed, created and more than anything, had fun doing it while remembering the fun times they had this year!

Buzzing with a Master Beekeeper

A master beekeeper and her apprentice introduced us to the world of bees! They read books with tons of bee facts, let us try on beekeeper uniforms and use a bee smoker. We marveled at all the bees in the observation hive, moved nectar from cell to cell using a Proboscis (eye dropper) and built insects using models. We even got to ask the beekeeper bee questions and got to try honey!

Ms. Smarty Plants Assembly

Ms. Smarty Plants came to visit our Silver Gators this week to talk about water conservation. We learned about habitats, rainfall, drought tolerant plants, plant structures, pollinators and seed dispersals and most importantly how to save water at home and on our beautiful planet! We put on our nature goggles and were reminded that we are all Earth Heroes! Ask me to sing you the song she taught us…”With my own two hands.”
