The Third Grade Team

Learning Targets

A Learning Target is the desired goal of each task in which your child will actively be involved. In addition, it engages your child in reflective evaluation of their own performance.

Readers Workshop:

We will review what a theme is in the genre of traditional literature so that I can understand the author's overall message of the text. I'll know I have it when I can identify evidence that supports the theme.

Integrated Social Studies and Writer's Workshop:

We will use historical documents to explore the contributions of Harriet Tubman so that we will be able to develop an opinion about the essential question. I'll know I have it when I can publish and share an essay that explains my opinion about what Harriet Tubman's greatest achievement is and provide evidence from the documents to support my thinking.

Math Workshop:

We will use multiplication so that we can determine the area of a rectangle. I will know I have it when I can correctly draw a rectangle to match the given dimensions.

We will discuss what a food chain is so that I can identify the parts of a food chain. I'll know I have it when I can retell how a food chain models interactions in ecosystems.
