CISL CONFERENCE IS THIS MONTH!

Hylton High School’s Center for International Students and Languages (CISL) program is hosting “Connecting with the World: People, Places, Language, and Culture” at Hylton High School on Saturday, March 18, 2023 from 8:30 am- 3:00 pm. CISL students can earn up to 20 CISL points for attending, reflecting, and bringing family or guests to this fun-filled learning opportunity!
Join us for a keynote speech by Dr. Christopher D. Yung is the Dean of the Marine Corps War College. In addition we will have 50-minute break-out sessions representing a wide variety of international topics and different countries, with presenters and attendees from the Washington metro area and our local community, including PWCS educators, students, parents, graduates, and colleagues from around the World! This year's truly GLOBAL breakout sessions feature presenters and topics such as: Protecting the President Around the World, Monsters Around the World, One Refugee's Journey, and more!
Student tickets are $20 and adult tickets are $25. The cost covers your access to the full day of events plus a fully catered meal of your choice from one of four amazing international restaurants! All proceeds from this event go to the CISL Scholarship Fund.

In order to raise money to fund CISL student activities and scholarships the CISL boosters will be hosting their annual silent auction of gift baskets at the CISL conference. To make the fundraiser a success, we need your help CISL families!
You can earn CISL points by contributing items to the baskets.

Volunteers Needed at Penn Elementary School's Multicultural Night
Penn Elementary School, located off Hoadley Rd, is hosting it’s annual Multicultural Night on
Friday, March 10, 2023.
Penn Elementary needs volunteers to help during the event. Volunteer times are 5:30-8:30 pm. Duties include helping set up, serving food during the food tasting, clean up.
This is a great way to share your CISL expertise, help in the community while earning up to 5 CISL points too! If you are interested in this opportunity please contact Joanne Morgan at Penn Elementary School at morganjm@pwcs.edu as soon as possible.

Spring CISL Book Club- March 15th
We love how many of you were able to join us for the first meeting of the Spring CISL book club! We hope you can come out for part 2, I think we'll have even more to talk about! I know I'm on the edge of my seat with our read, Buried Beneath the Baobab Tree!
Join us for our final meeting this spring either at 7:00 a.m. or at 2:15 p.m. on Wednesday March 15th in the library. This meeting can earn you 5 points for participating!
Even if you couldn't join us for the first meeting of the CISL book club we would love to have you join us for the second meeting. Let the librarians know if you still need a copy of the book! We look forward to seeing you there!

TIPSS (Today in International Politics Speaker Series) for Seniors in AP COGO
Links to register for the zooms for each month can be found for the buttons below. There are opportunities: March 14th & 15th, and April 4th and 5th.
Each night is worth 3 CISL points just for attending and an additional two points for reflecting. So seniors if you attend both nights you can earn between 6-10 CISL points for each month or 12-20 points over the next two months!
