Martin Luther King, Jr. Remembered
Martin Luther King Day, or MLK Day, is a federal holiday in the Untied States that honors the civil rights leader and activist, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. It is observed on the third Monday of January each year, close to his birthday on January 15th.The holiday serves as a time for reflection, community service, and the celebration of Dr. King's contributions to the civil rights movement.
Ways to observe and honor this day:
MLK is know for asking what do we do for others. In the 1990s, the theme of the holiday became: “Remember! Celebrate! Act! A Day On, Not a Day Off.”
Ideas to give back to others and your community:
Pick up trash on your street, local parks, or along the highway.
Volunteer at local charities.
Visit elderly neighbors and see if they have any needs.
WEATHER OUTLOOK
Warning: The forecast is fickle and subject to change on a whim.
Wise Words
Martin Luther King, Jr. Quotes:
"I have decided to stick with love. Hate is a greater burden to bear. ""Darkness can not drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate can not drive out hate; only love can do that."
For a Smile
Q: What do you get from a pampered cow?
A: Spoiled milk.
Don't spell part backwards.
It's a trap.
Did you know?
2. MLK survived an assassination attempt 10 years before his death.
3. The King family filed a suit against the government and won. The jury ruled MLK's death as a conspiracy.
