WELCOME TO 2023
CRF SELECTIONS - PARENT INFORMATION NIGHTS
2023-2024 COURSE SELECTION SEASON IS HERE!
All current 9th, 10th and 11th grade students should have received their Course Request Form (CRF), CRF packet with instructions and resources, and a copy of their Del Norte transcript. Please review with your student(s) the information and resources available to support in the CRF selection.
You can locate all the CRF information on our counseling website, on the Course Request 10th -12th Grade page found here.
In addition to using the resources available on the Counseling website/Course Request 10th-12th Grade page, we encourage students to discuss their course selection with their teachers to get advice and recommendations. If parents have additional questions for a counselor, please find the Parent Drop-in dates and times on our website.
Complete the online portion of your course registration between 2/16-3/10. Print a copy of the online selections, staple to the CRF, get parent/student signatures, include AP Contracts if applicable, and senior Double Off-Roll form if applicable. Due to 2nd period teacher on March 10th.

Del Norte Counselors are hosting parent drop-in sessions to answer CRF questions on the below dates. This is an opportunity for parents of current 9th, 10th, and 11th grade Del Norte students to ask questions regarding class selections for the 2023-24 school year.

For spring classes March 3, 2023 is the Registration deadline and LATE Exam Registration Deadline.
The cost of each AP exam is $110. each. Extra fees may apply for late exam registration. Fee Waivers may be available for students that qualify. Please see Mrs. Reich in counseling for qualifications.

SAN DIEGO ZOO SAFARI PARK
SCHOLARSHIPS (ADDITIONAL SCHOLARSHIPS CAN BE FOUND IN NAVIANCE)
Scholarships are awarded annually to selected students in the community attending Rancho Bernardo High School and Del Norte High School. To be eligible, a student must be a graduating senior during the current school year. Scholarships for each school are awarded to students going on to 4-year college or university, community college, or a trade or technical school: Varying scholarship amounts will be awarded up to $2000 per student as selected by the RB Rotary Scholarship Committee. The students are chosen after the RB Rotary Scholarship committee reviews the applications and completes selected semi-finalist candidate interviews. Interviews will take place in early April (details to follow). Students will be notified if selected for an interview. Don’t delay! Deadline for submitting applications is March 1st.

CAL RTA 2023-24
THE SCHOLARSHIP FOUNDATION, INC. OF THE CALIFORNIA RETIRED TEACHERS ASSOCIATION NORTH SAN DIEGO COUNTY SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION
The Scholarship Foundation, Inc., of the California Retired Teachers Association North San Diego County is awarding scholarships to qualified graduating high school seniors who have applied, and if accepted, will attend a California public community college or state university (CSU or UC system) for the upcoming year. Community college students will receive $1000. CSU or UC students will receive $1500.
The applicant must have a goal of pursuing a career in the field of education. Scholarship checks will be awarded upon receipt of the student’s proof of acceptance and enrollment for the fall semester including a class schedule of at least 12 units. Scholarships will be awarded on the basis of: 1. Scholastic record 2. School extra curricular activities 3. Community service 4. Work experience 5. Letters of recommendation (2) a. One from your high school staff {teacher, counselor} b. One from a community member (employer, church etc.} Submit a copy of your high school transcript with this application. Please check that all required pages are included before sending the completed application. Incomplete applications will not be considered.

BRAD FOWLER MEMORIAL
$6,000 scholarship available for at least 5 high school seniors in San Diego county. A second scholarship of $5,000 can also be earned, provided the recipient remains in good academic standing following the first year of college, for a total possible scholarship of $10,000. The nominee will enroll in either a 2-year or 4-year college; has overcome personal obstacles associated with drugs or alcohol; demonstrated athletic achievement and participation in organized sports; demonstrated leadership ability and personal responsibility, and academic achievement and growth. The candidate will also have a strong commitment to setting and reaching life goals.
All submissions must include: completed nomination form, copy of the student's nigh school transcripts, and a letter of recommendation from a teacher, coach, or counselor. The letter of recommendation should attest as to why the nominee's behavior, attitude, desire and character warrant this scholarship. Please see website for application packet. CAREER PRESENTATIONS - PRESENTERS NEEDED
We are hoping to continue this tradition and are looking for parents in our Nighthawk community that would be willing to share information regarding their career journey. These are informal 20-30 minute lunch meetings that will be held in the Nighthawk Center during student lunch.
We try to align the presentations with our Career Technical Education (CTE) pathways. PUSD Career Technical Education focuses on the changing workplace that demands high levels of academic and applied knowledge and skill. Throughout the district, career pathway programs are offered in twelve of the fifteen high-growth industry sectors identified by the State of California.
