Elementary Updates
Dear Parents,
Thank you for showing your support at our first annual Kids' Nutrition & Fun Family Fitness night! The students did a great job providing us with healthy snacks and we all thoroughly enjoyed the family walk/run at the end of the night. What a great way to kick off STAAR season by fueling our body with healthy snacks and expending energy with physical activity!
Please ensure your child gets plenty of rest and eats a healthy breakfast next week as we begin our STAAR testing and remember to pack your child a lunch as no outside lunches can be delivered this week. The schedule for elementary students in grades 3 through 5 follows:
- Tuesday, May 10: Mathematics
- Wednesday, May 11: ELAR
- Thursday, May 12: Science (5th grade only)
The month of May is a busy one. Weekly emails will be sent out informing families of events for the week. Some events coming up are the Elementary Field Days, Award Ceremonies, 3rd Grade Culminating PBL, ESports, K-2 Field Trip, and Kinder Celebration. In addition to these events, elementary teachers in K-2 are scheduling end of the year conferences with parents. Watch your emails for information from your child's teachers.
Best Regards,
Monica Elizondo, M.Ed.

Secondary Updates
Dear Parents/Guardians,
Dear Parents/Guardians,
We find ourselves at the end of another academic year. This is my 18th year in education and I am always amazed at how fast the year seems to fly by. May is always a bittersweet moment with Senior Graduation. However, there is much to celebrate this month, as you can tell by the very full calendar of events listed above.
One of my primary goals as the secondary principal has been to bring a sense of cohesion to our students in grades 6-12. Adding a grade every year has seen last year’s graduating class with a lot of traditions our high school students can take part in. We will continue our high school events, but we wanted to look to our middle school students too. This year, our team has been able to branch out. Our 8th graders will get to participate in the inaugural Bridging Ceremony. This event is a symbolic representation of the students coming over to our high school and joining one of the three high school pathways. We hope you 8th grade parents will make sure and complete the survey you received and participate with us that evening.
The last event is our annual Boat Race engineering design challenge. All of our students in grades 6-12 are grouped with their peers to design a card board boat held together by duct tape. They are challenged to cross the UTPB pool in the fastest (non-sinking boat). This event is always a hoot!
The next two weeks are STAAR/EOC testing for our middle & high school students. Please see the attached schedule to make sure you students are going to bed at an appropriate hour and eating a healthy breakfast in the morning. We got this Falcons!
