Spring at Woodcrest
Greetings Woodcrest families,
I hope this finds you after a relaxing spring break. The weather was wonderful and now, with less snow here at Woodcrest, the whole place looks new. I am sure that your children are looking forward to finding new puddles to jump in during recess. I know teachers are looking forward to taking more of their learning outdoors as well.
With second trimester behind us, you will be able to review student report cards soon. On March 25, you will be able to access the student reports in Campus Parent Portal.
As excited as you may be about report cards, your children are excited about using the cafeteria for breakfast and lunch!!! The cafeteria has been filled with laughter and smiles these last two days. In fact, I think students believe that their time in the cafeteria “Exceeds Standard!”
During this third trimester, we start to live between two school years. One foot is planted in the 2021-2022 school year and the other is stepping forward into the 2022-2023 school year. We have begun the planning process for the creation of homeroom rosters for next year along with keeping our eyes on a strong transition for students from one grade level to the next.
It is not lost on me that these last few years have been challenging, not just for teachers and students but, for parents as well. I am most excited this spring to create new opportunities for families to engage with Woodcrest. Opportunities for parent volunteers and family events are being put in place. This spring, I look forward to meeting and welcoming you back to the Woodcrest building.
Con gratitúd,
John Franke

Mini Cake Fondant Decorating - Have fun learning how to color, roll and cut colorful fondant into a wide variety of shapes and sizes. You will apply a base coat of buttercream icing. Next, add decorative fondant pieces to your 5-inch, two-layer cake, to create a springtime edible work of art! All abilities welcome!
Dine-to-Donate - Tomorrow!
Mark your calendar for Thursday, March 24 and join us at the Northtown Leeann Chin Restaurant anytime between 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Flyers (paper or digital) must be presented at time of purchase for dine-in or carry-out only. No online or app orders will be counted.
Mileage Club
Each spring, WCSI PTO sponsors Mileage Club for all students. During recess, they may choose to run around a painted track outside to earn toe tokens (charms that look like feet) to wear on their lanyards. Usually this lasts mid April-end of May depending on how fast the ground dries.
We are currently looking for two co-coordinators to arrange volunteers and prize distribution...talk to the board and we will get you everything you need! We are also looking for several volunteers to monitor running and help with prize distribution during each school day the program is running (Maybe M/W/F). Sign up for the Mileage Club committee in Konstella to stay in the loop!
Wednesday Morning Volunteers
After two years, PTO is once again starting up our Wednesday Morning Volunteer Committee. This group gets together from 9:15-11:45 a.m. each week to help WCSI staff with projects such as pencil sharpening, cutting, art hanging, display making, library help and more. Many hands make light work so we also have time for a lot of coffee and fun conversation! This group is flexible, come the times and weeks that you can. Please let us know if you'd like to co-chair this committee. For more details, sign up on Konstella!
PTO Meeting - Save the date
Monday, April 11 at 6 p.m. is our next PTO meeting. We will discuss exciting spring volunteer opportunities and learn about how to get involved with committee chair and board positions for the 2022-2023 school year.
